I didn't hear about it until a coworker mentioned it. Anytime there is an accident like this, we usually do a briefing ourselves as a "what if" it happened here, how would we handle it.
FYI I am an airport firefighter.

Preliminary info suggest that icing may have played a part in the tragic crash.
of couse, it's still just pure speculation at this pont.

Just saw a link to an ATC audio sample... but nothing to learn there. They were at the outer marker at about 2500, had just spoken to ATC with no mention of a problem, then they were gone.

Yeah my mom grew up there and I travel every Christmas there to see family this surprised me since I have flown in to that airport on a plane like that.
It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed
