Hi, I just have a few questions about overclocking. I'm a 14 year old boy and I haven't really had a chance to overclock yet so I need some advice. I recently bought a second hand Dell Dimension 2400 for my room (£40!). I have already installed 1GB of RAM and a 256MB PNY GeForce 6200 graphics card. It runs alright, but I would like to get more out of it. I have read that the Intel Pentium 4 is practically impossible to overclock, and I was wondering is it possible or not. I would overclock to about 3.2GHz from 2.66GHz, so may need another fan. Any advice would be appreciated, about what to use and how to do it! Grin

Added: Also is there any software that would help boost graphics performance or general performance at all? Cheers.

My specs:
Dell Dimension 2400
2.66GHz Pentium 4
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256mb
1gb DDR memory
80gb Seagate hard drive

You will not be able to overclock due to it being a Dell,an OEM,that has the BIOS locked. Without being able to enter the BIOS,overclocking is out of the question.
And also, you're better off buying a new system than trying to OC a Pentium. Wink

Stick to FS9 with your current sytem and you'll be okay. Don't expect to run FSX with it though.  Sad

I installed FSX Demo (which I know is less demanding) and I was running acceptably at middle range of option sliders. I'm happy with that, but was wondering if I could get anything more. Maybe installing NHancer would help. Thanks. Grin

I'm running a Dell  Embarrassed  P4HT at 3.4Ghz.... Roll Eyes   "I feel your pain"  Grin

Try ALL of NickN's tweaks if you can, per his instructions...to the "T".

O&O defrag is a must, and must be set up and used correctly, as well as the low impact antivirus program recommended.

I get pretty good rates and smoothness, and if you use nHancer, it   should help.  Running the iFly744 I'm getting 10 to 20+, with sliders in the upper range....but remember it's not about framerates... Wink

I'm still waiting to upgrade, but can't right now. Angry   Someday!
