Okay since i have gotten my new system i have noticed that the internet is very slow compared to my old system, but my new system in cabled up to the router, while my old system is on a pci 54Mbps wireless card Huh

I can not take the old card as my motherboard only has 1 PCI-E 2.0 slot and 2 pci slots, as my Graphics card has a dual slot heatsink. And the Graphics card would be blowing hot air right on the Network card Cheesy
That is abit bad Cheesy

So why is the net slower!? Huh

the network card is on the inside of the case as is the graphics card. As you know Tongue. The graphics card does not blow into the case. it sucks the air from the inside of the case and blows it straight out the back. It shouldn't be a problem to stick your wireless card back in.

Bout your net going slow no idea  Cheesy.

First, make sure you have installed the latest drivers for your NIC (assuming it is an onboard NIC, check your MB web site for the latest.)

Second, give this a try: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php (first item.)

If that does not do it, I have one more item to try, but need to know your router model. Or, if you know that it is capable of 100mbs full duplex, try setting your driver to that specifically.

Well my graphics card does blow air... i can feel it, and when i say "dual slot" i mean it's just the heatsink, not taking up to of those slots.

And with the router, dunno if it's 100mbps, the LAN slot is Undecided

I'll try that download Wink

First, since when do videocards blow air downwards? Got a picture of your card?

Second, it doesn't matter if hot air gets blown onto the network card. It won't do anything.

I'd put the old network card back in and use that.

Sorry to tell you but if your card is blowing air inside the case then either there is something wrong with it or it is a piece of sh*t. I have the 4870. can't feel any air whatsoever moving inside the case where the fan is, out the back its very strong current.

Hm ok it's difficult to tell.

As long as the network card fits and doesn't constrict airflow to the card i think you'd be ok.

I think it would, as the card is full width  Undecided

If you can't get the network card to work, buy a Wireless USB Adapter. If you do get one, make sure the model will work well with your router and OS. I have a Linksys WUSB100 (Wireless-N 54mbps) and it works great! No problems at all except for maybe the software crashed once or twice.
