Hello!

Let me preface this with I do not know too much about computers.  This is why I had someone else build a system for FSX.  I recieved my computer 2 weeks ago and have been playing around with it.   Adding, UTX, GEX, WoAI, REX, a few airplanes, and O-O defrag - tweaking and adjusting settings.  CPU info:

Intel Core i7 940 2.93GHz
ASUS P6T Deluxe
6GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Dominator DHX
300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor (10K RPM)
Linksys Wireless-N 300Mbps
Video Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 1GB

In my stumbling around I discovered that Vista 32 was the OS installed on my system and this will act as a bottle neck for my machine's performance.   Cry  Would installing Vista 64 bit be difficult for a computer novice?

Would it be worth it?

I figure I would have to reinstall FSX and all add-ons which wouldn't be too tough just time consuming - but I'm worryied about the hardware.  Will Vista recognize it so it functions properly?  I'm just wondering if there is more to it than placing a DVD in the drive.

To boot I only recieved the 32 bit version DVD so I would have to go out annd buy a copy of the 64 bit version.

Any help is appreciated.

I feel pretty stupid about this --- DOH!!!

Well yes you would go out and have to buy 64bit ver. Installing windows is easy, just wipe EVERYTHING on your HDD now, Reboot with the DVD in a it's pretty easy Wink

Not to sure about hardware, many users here use it with an i7 system and run it fine Wink

Anything else from Nick? Cheesy

What 64 bit provides over 32bit is the ability of a full 4GB of memory to be available to FSX as long as it is FSXSP2 or FSX Acceleration

It also allows programs like photoshop and other graphics and engineering based programs to use more than 4

If you dediced to switch it would require a complete wipe of the hard drive and clean install of the 64bit OS and supporting software, and, you must make sure you collect and use ONLY the 64bit versions of the drivers for the system and all its hardware
