Hey guys,

Here's my specs:
E6750 2.6 @ 3.4 ghz (or 3.2... lol)
8800 GTX
Vista/7 x64 (problem happens under both)
4gb RAM

What happens is in the picture below, seemingly randomly. For instance,s witching between fullscreen and windowed, or going into a menu. I think my video card is on it's way out maybe. I just left it now, since it happened in the beginning of a flight (out of AS EDDF), usually on long-haul flights, but now it's happened within 15 minutes of starting. I have to restart FS then it's ok. As for addons, it happens with any plane, and I'm just running Radar Contact, FSPAX and REX.

Under Vista, it happened more often as 7. I upp'd to 7, since the DWM is optimized, so I figured less video RAM would be used towards aero, freeing more up for FSX. It does happen less often, with the nvidia 7 pre-release drivers, and the released WHQL. But I am running 7 because I'm a developer testing software... this is my only workhorse machine.

Please Ethier upload those pictures to SimV, or just have to link no thumbnails, It is against the rules to link a picture from a Different site Wink

You just have a Link like: www.simviation.com  Wink

But no Thumbnails linked from another site as those are Wink

Done it several times, with Driver Sweeper, etc. It's happening across OS's, so I believe it's something a bit more involved than that.

My 8800 recently went bad, so i'm curious, do weird things happen in other games or 3d applications?

Not that I've noticed, but none of them really push it like the GTX. The most 'complex' game would be Team Fortress 2, though I did just just GTA IV, but haven't had the chance to install it.

But TF2 seemed fine, but I never play for several hours at a time like FSX. Perhaps I'll keep it running and see if anything happens.

How did you know it 'went bad'?

The strange thing is, restarting FSX clears it. So maybe it's something else...

I was getting system crashes, and weird graphic glitches anytime I ran a 3d application, and sometimes during normal windows operations. I was getting error messages that mentioned the video drivers. I didn't know for sure if it was the video card untill I took it to a PC shop, and they took a look at it

Actually, you are allowed to link like that, though you can't put the tags around a linked image. Wink

As for your video card problem -  perhaps those video drivers are not optimised for Windows 7?

However, have you installed any software/hardware recently? They can mess up device drivers some times.

Do you run your 8800 GTX in high heat conditions? I doubt it would just die on you, it would really need to heat up first.

I also doubt it is dieing, because you mention that it does render graphics perfectly, sometimes. Most likely a driver issue with 7.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. It happened with Vista too, just less on 7. It might just be another "OOM" issue, since I restart FS and then it's ok. It might be FSPAX actually, but I'm investigating.

Thanks
