Hi

If I install & format a second sata HD to store things in, what do I need to do to show its partitions in the original boot HD?

You don't need to do anything. When you connect it, it will appear in My Computer as a seperate HDD. Just format it there if it needs to be formatted and you'll be ready to use it as storage

I didn't think that you would be able to see it if it was unpartitioned space. If that is the case then go to start control panel/administrative tools/computer management/disk management and choose the unpartitioned space and format it.
