Nick,

Some buildings and smokestacks on my system (i7 920 OC 3.8, Nhancer + 181.20 drivers, 260 card, vert sync on, Accel, XP 32 + SP3, Nhancer set up per your instructions)have a horizontal shimmer.

What causes this and is there a fix?

Thanks.

Jack S.

you may be referring to the type2 autogen buildings.. those have a bug in FSX which cause them to 'twinkle' 'flicker', etc as you move

What you are seeing is the sim switching them as you fly. Type2 is designed to render more than one object on duplicate tiles in the scene to try and cut down on repeats per tiles and give the illusion its not the same tile and autogen being seen over and over

Assuming Nhancer is set to Combined 8xS and assuming what you are seeing is Type2 autogen objects flickering, there is nothing you can do. its a sim bug.

as for the horizontal.. that I dont know.. it almost sounds like AA is not being applied corectly Vsync not applied right can do that as well as AA

go back and verify you have correctly set up Nhancer by profile and global and make SURE the 'in game Enhanced AA" setting is UNCHEKED!

Also make sure the sim graphics settings are correct .. AA UNCHECKED and Fliltering to trilinear, and, make sure the monitor resolution is correct

I have also seen issues with monitors where the LCD was being used with a VGA or wrong DVI type cable.. make sure you are set up right in that area.

could be driver related too

Im using 180.48

Nhancer must be set up again after a driver switch and you can not make any changes in the Nvidia control panel under 3D after setting up Nhancer..  anything changed in the 3D section will override the Nhancer setting

But DO take a peek in the Nvidia control advanced 3D area and make sure Vsync (last option) is set to FORCE ON

if not, set it that way from there and after applying and closing NV control, check Nhancer again to make sure you AA and AF settings remain the same

Thank you again; installed 180, reinstalled nhancer, double checked settings and am as good as I will get.

The buildings that really shake are NYC west bound at 3000 near the East River, most others in major cities are OK.

Thanks again.
