As the are designed to do. If they did not, then the aircraft would nose over as soon as the engines touch the water and/or rip the wings off. The engine to wing pylons have shear pins to ensure that this happens. Also when landing wheels up on rough ground.

Ask any airliner pilot who the enemy is...then question me again!!!

Rotty, for an Air Force Weeney, he earned his pay  Grin  True heroism.  Yeah they are all trained to do this, and they are all paid to do this, but how many actually HAVE to do this.  My hat is off to the crew, and the boats in the area, and everyone else who did their part to ensure the safety of this crowd.  A perfect disaster, what should have happened didn't.

Wow, I guess that one is totaled. Personally, I'd cut the front off, rewire the cockpit, and use it as a sim cockpit. ( If I could, that is. )
