Its currently -18°F with a wind chill of -45°F here
Had power surges since about 8PM and the power has went out several times. Just so we don't loose it for to long, furnace is already running non stop to keep our house at 70°F. Normally keep it at 65° but figured we better warm it up tonight not knowing how long it may last. We will freeze in a hurry if we loose power completely.

Yea, it's 12°F as of 5:30 AM at my local airport and it normally will go down a notch or two more before sunrise. Tomorrow morning is suppose to be colder.
I'm a good 350 miles below the Mason Dixon line and I'm not use to cold. I think the coldest it's ever been reported here was 2°F air temperature.

Well, here we are Saturday morning, it's 7:20 am and it 6.8°F. I thought this would be a record for my area. But it turns out that the all time low temperature here was set back in 1972 at -1°F. So hopefully we won't break that record today or any time soon.
My old bones aren't able to tolerate this cold as well anymore...

I'm getting a generator next week, In my neck of the woods we have had record rainfall, record cold temps, and record snowfall in the last 12 months. Survival of the most prepared?

It's getting better in my area. When I first moved here in 1992, if there was a snow storm on the Tennessee boarder (a good 250-300 miles), the power would go out. At least now, the power stays on most of the time at least until the snow starts falling at my house.....
Now thunderstorms, that's different, you can go out and piss up a power pole and knock out the power to a 20 square mile area....lmao. Nah, it's not quite that bad.

........0830 here and golfers are starting to roll in..........they'll have to wait a bit as we do have some frost on the ground......I have a report from our local ski hill here from two days ago.....skiers were seeing temperatures of +18C at the top of Mt Washington.....bit soft for good snow, but even a day of skiing like that, is better than the best day at work !
