Abacus' FSRepaint - you can view both FS9 and FS-X mdl files in demo mode.

I already have it. I can view the mdl files but I can't identify individual textures (like panel textures) with it like I can with the FSX viewer. With the FSX viewer I can highlight each individual texture and see where it is; even the $xxxxx textures that the gauges are attached to. I need this function for FS9 aircraft.

You cannot "view" $xxx textures because they
do not exist
until they sim generates them when an aircraft is loaded.
You can view how they
will be arranged
using FS Panel Studio.

Okay, just downloaded the demo version of FS panel studio. Maybe I am missing something here but it sure looks to me like this program only looks at 2D panels in which case it does me no good at all. Is there a way to look at the VC with this program?
