It will forever be like that until PEOPLE (NOT GAMESPY) start making servers in the Bush Flying, Airliners etc tabs. Yes Gamespy does have problems but when you have 100+ people idle, entering and leaving gamespy tends to drop them. If you somehow get logged into gamespy, click the drop down menu in the top right corner of the screen labeled "Free Flight" and select one of the other areas. There are typically not a bunch of servers but hey, if it works.
Also, find a server that you like, see if they have a website and find their server IP address and instead of logging into gamespy, log into the LAN side of the multiplayer page. Then after you are logged in click on "connect directly" and type in the IP Address. It will take around a minute but you will be connected to the server and you will have fully functional chat/voice and you won't be dropped by "Gamespy".

Hopefully FSXI will not utilize the same multiplayer approach as FSX.
FS9 rocks.

FS 2004 (FS9) still rules the Roost for all Multiplayers....
...!
Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Navigator...and a happy, problem-free, daily Multiplayer...
...!
P.S...It's been a couple of years now since I last struggled to get on line with my copy of FSX, and I think that the problem was that it is nowhere as quick, simple, and easy to get connected, (and stay connected) in FSX, as it always has been with FS 2004!

Saitek Cyborg Evo Force. FS 2004 + FSX. Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower...Motor Bikes. Gas Cooker... and lots of musical instruments!.... ...!

Sorry guys. It is mostly not FSX that causes your problems. It is
your
ISP. Yes the main free flight server is clogged and it does bump me off sometimes but that happens maybe once or twice for me during the span of a week.
I run a wireless connection through a crappy router and I get ping response times of 20-70 through out all of North America. The only places I don't get it good is some cities on the west coast.
I have no problems logging in, no problems getting into a server and no lag.
For all of you using the FSX multiplayer, make sure you check the box that says "Servers in my region only". Should help with any lagging.
If you can, I would suggest switching to a better internet service provider. I have AT&T. They rock. FSX...
rocks
