For the GTX280, is it ok to use the 6+2 pin PCIe connector on the PCP&C silencer 750 power supply in place of a true 8 pin?  I read conflicting reports.

PCP&C makes an adapter for that for their older 750 units that did not come with the ATi style 6+8...

the card did not come with one?

It does come with a 2-6pin into 1-8pin adaptor but the instructions say that should only be a temporary solution and not to use it permanantly.  Is that True?

Its probably a warning based on crap PSU's out there with multiple rails that drop current.. That PCP&C unit will work fine with the adapter cuz its ONE rail
