I just repurchased O&Os Defrag/Stat/Safe Erase Bundle for my new system yesterday afternoon. I followed ALL your instructions for a proper OS set up all last night and today. I thought about just buying v11, but every post I read about v11 seemed to poo-poo it. How screwed am I?

  Thanx either way. I didn't realize how much excess crap is programmed into a pc system.

  I can't find the links right now, but I remember there were some posts made about v11 about +/-2 months ago. I do remember reading that you (Nick) you were working on UTE and couldn't check it out right at that moment. The comments never really trashed it, but there were some definate concerns brought up and some definate southward aiming comments made about v11 at that time.

  I, initially, bought the bundle because it was cheaper a year and half ago. I did use the Safe Erase for deleting some stuff off of the hard drives I had at that time, but you're right the Stat is just a novelty item. I was impressed with the Defragger, it seemed to do a great job, then and now.

  Ooops... I ran the space defrag twice as your instructions say. I am getting a fatal error message when I get to the Free Flight page, then FSX automatically tries to restart. I've rebooted 8 times so far to try to clear the malfunction, but no dice so far. Could too many passes cause this to happen? Either way, I have a feeling that I'm going to have to do a full uninstall/reinstall, which I'll follow your instructions to the letter with that as well.

  And, absolutely, I'd read the current instruction, pull up the item necessary, then I would re-read the instruction to make sure I had the right item, and was about to do exactly what was posted. As I said it was a breeze with the i7, everything was easily accessible.

  As far as v10 is concerned, if it will do the trick, then I'm okay with it. I'm familiar with the way it works - I was just caught off guard when I saw that you endorsed v11 18 hours after I repurchased v10 and two hours before I finished with the set up. I certainly wasn't mad about it, actually, I said crap (in a, "it figures" kinda way), and leaned back in my chair and just laughed. No big deal... Coming from having the equipment I had before, to what I have now is a great relief in itself. Anyway, I wasn't trying rattle cages, I was just caught off guard. I'll begin my unistall/reinstall project tomorrow... Blue sky wishes...
