I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove scenery buildings when you design a new airport to fly out of. I have several airports that I have built using AFCAD and ADE. When I turn up the scenery settings in the game, I get buildings and trees in the middle of runways and taxiways. I tried doing an exclude area addition to the scenery config file but that does not seem to work.
Any help would be appreciated.

First off, welcome to SimV.... Smiley

Second, we do have a scenery design board where designers are lurking to answer questions like these... Wink

Welcome to SimV,

Sounds like you're seeing autogen buildings and trees, which can't be removed with an exclude.

Though I can't use ADE (don't have the FSX SDK), from what I've read , to remove autogen you use ADE's Airport Poly function.  This will replace the underlying land class poly, surpressing the autogen.

Though Scruffyduck (ADE's author) does stop by here regularly and can give more specific help, I suggest you stop by the ADE support forum. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=95&order=desc. Posting your question(s) there, or using the 'Search this forum' function there, might get a quicker response/answer.

Also, check that you have the latest update/version of ADE (1.37 I believe) so that you have all the features/functions.

Hi Dave,  Yes I do stop by and yes to remove autogen trees and similar you need to use an airport background polygon.  The release notes that come with the program explain how these work.  They are not described in the main manual.  Fortunately our main manual 'guru' is currently sorting out the mess I have made of the documentation and everything should be in one place shortly.

Also Can you confirm which sliders and causing the appearance of these objects?  If it is the autogen slider then it will be an airport background poly that you need.  If it is the scenery complexity slider then you may need exclusion rectangles.  Again you can create these in ADE if needed.

Thanks for the replies from every one, the autogen slider was set to normal. So I put the slider down to none and tried that. It worked, but none of the surrounding airports had their buildings show up. I am still tweaking it and trying to get it set right.

As for the buildings showing up at the new airport, they did. Scruffy, I thank you for the advice most of all. I really like the  ADE program, once I figured out how to use it...LOL Wink

PS: This is an edit to the post, I set the scenery complexity slider all the way up and the airport buildings show up at the surrounding airports. Yippppeee!! Grin
