"Run out of memory" ...
Well, well, three times this week-end I have again this abrupt end in my CFS2 and crashing to the desktop. One time, the F-86s kills with my MiG-15 in "Red Star" were loss; very pity not for me , but for my wingmans after so all this work!!! .Then, another crash to desktop in another scenery and mission over Antung and Sinuiju chasing B-29s and F-80s.

Already  i dont understand the way of management of RAM with CFS2. I have 2.00 GB of MB and is not enough??????

What kind of programa is CFS2?. NASA Apollo Space programme o Mars mission???   Grin Grin.

-I have some question about this "Memory":

-In the option advanced of "My PC" in the management of the RAM wich is the better option for CFS2: Programmes or Caché of system?

-How many RAM must I give in the Windows Virtual Memory: actually I have assigned 9210 MB divid in three segments of 3000 MB for each the parts of my hard disk (C, D, E )

-Can be the problem because CFS2 is running as copy in D por example and not in the default C?

-Work really the option of compatbility "Run this programme as Window98 or ME?

-Drivers of my ATI Graphic Card were actualised the last month, actual drivers  8-12_xp32_dd_72271

-I have checked the configuration in the system vía  HKEY LOCAL Machine and register edit in the Memory Management, PrefetchParameters, but not way, is always the same.

-16 or 32 bits, that play in something with CFS2 functions?

-The 10 MB in the scenery settings of CFS2, how many more is better or is worst?

-35 FPS in very bad settings in graphic?, can take a crash of CFS2, better 25 or 20 or less?

-Is really supported by CFS2 the 1024 x 768 definition in the screen o that can cause crashes?

-DirectX9 , can really CFS2 work with him or with XP Service Pack 2?

-I have try to run CFS2 with the Programme RAM cleaner of Cyberlat but is the same, always crashes and the PC was between 78-80 % of processor and memory resources.

I have each so two missions maybe a crash to desktop and this is really absolutly very boring. That is specially true in the missions over Korea. Less over the Pacific or WWI.
You are in the game with the stress of a possible crash in the next minutes o seconds. No our plane, the CFS2 , yeahhh!!! Tongue Tongue

Thanks for all help, sugestion, commentary and ideas, about this mistery of "memory".

My configutation is XP, SP2 , 2 Gb RAM,Graphic Card ATI X1600, X1650, Processor Atlon 3500.

I've never had a problem running CFS2 on WinXP + SP2 + the latest DirectX 9.0c. I never had to use compatibility mode & always used 1024 x 768 x 16 display settings. Apart from that I use the default scenery cache settings. I suspect your problem might be caused by a background application starting up without your knowledge. Some anti-virus software is notorious for this sort of thing.

I can't help with the optimum size of the page file as advice varies & I have no experience with settings for a partitioned drive. It will probably depend on how much spare HDD space you have. CFS2 runs very well on my system with Windows managing the virtual memory.

It might help to defrag your HD regularly. Also free up some resources by using a utility like FS Autostart. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/FSAutoStart.shtml

Hope this is some help.

I know we may not be much help here, but you've got 8 times my RAM so your problem isn't there. I recently made a hardware installation and XP popped up a window, "Memory low...Expanding memory" (Hard Drive cache) I've also been able to run both CFS1 and CFS2 while other programs were in use or installing. When I've run into compatibility problems it was with add-ons, never CFS, itself; even the add-ons didn't cause a memory failure, per se.

Cool
