Worse than the Army (Read 823 times)

This is getting worse than the Army.

So I started exploring add-ons for FSX. I have added on planes, but, never messed with scenery, and other.

Is there a comprehensive list of these?  I am already confused, because I turn around and there is another one I had never heard of. Some are payware, so if I am considering shelling out cash, I wanna know what  I am buying.  Call me old fashioned, but..

Okay I have come across:
GEX
REX
FEX
FTX
UTX
nHancer
Nick's Light Fix (Okay, so that one is easy, but I know Nick works over there helping with GEX, so, if I get GEX, do I still wanna put his light fix in?)

I should have kept up with this when it all came out, but my trip to Iraq kept me from flying sim for a while. I got behind.

Don't forget 'SEX'

Sound Environment X

Grin

GEX (Ground Experience X) replaces the ground textures

UTX (Ultimate Terrain X) Enhances landclass

FEX (Flight Environment X) Enhances the flight environment ie: clouds, sky and water themes, ect

REX (Real Environment Extreme) is a new environment addon that replaces clouds, adds realism to the environment, and I guess has a weather engine

FTX (Full Terrain Experience) is a series of highly detailed scenery addons for Australia. They are also working on a package for the Pacific Northwest... Cool

Hope this helps

The military has so many acronyms, it's rediculous. I believe that's what he's referring to Wink

I've got GEX and UTX but none of the others. GEX was my best buy, however with my system, UTX hits performance noticably so I only use a small portion of it. I hope that helps with those two matters.
I'll go out on a limb and say for a first move try GEX and then go from there.

Just wanted to say thank you Dave, for that extremely helpful post you showed the link to. Answers all of my questions and concerns. Wink
I currently run GEX,UTX,and FSGenesis. Now I'm debating between REX and FEX. I'm leaning towards FEX due to it being made by FirstFlight. With the majority of my add-ons currently running  being FirstFlight products,I'd like to keep it "in-house" Wink, but REX looks so darn good. Tough choice.

Again,thanks for that wonderful post.
