I thought i would provide an update for those who are interested.

As many of you may know, i have been aiming at the goal of opening my own flight school  for quite some time now, originally, my plan was to open the business in the retirement stages of my airline career.

recently, opportunities have presented themselves which allow me to open the flight school now rather than later.

In the past 2 months i have accomplished the following:

a. Secured an on airport office and class room from which to base my flight school

b. I have acquired an airplane. though i really wanted that fancy Flight Design CT i have opted for what may be a more economical Cessna 150L

c. I have legitimately incorporated my business.

d. I have opened a business account in the company name, with myself on file as the "president"  Cheesy

e. I have had the Cessna's old Apollo GPS removed and replaced with a panel mounted garmin 296 which i already owned

f. I have already sold 2 introductory flying lessons which are set to take place around Christmas

g. I have 3 students full time now!

h. i have completely overhauled my web site at www.h22aviation.com

I hope it all ads up to success!

still left to do: get my SS id and my FIT ID numbers.  Cool

Congratulations John it looks like your on your way to make millions.   Wink

I think your choice of aircraft (C150L) is a good one.

I was just thinking about something when I read your update.

The old girl and I were up at Buttonville Airport near Toronto Ontario the other day and she commented on the number of new sporty type cars in the parking lot compared to what we normally see at the bugsmasher fields we drop into.  Mostly half ton trucks, jeeps, landrovers and the odd two or three year old car.
We also noticed that most of the students we saw were not even old enough to shave, students, new cars, flying lessons, well, I guess we know where the money is don't we?   Grin LOL

The one instructor told us they were booked solid through the Christmas Holidays, now who the hell said there was a recession needs a kick where his brain rests on the chair.   Roll Eyes

Good luck on your endeavours sounds like everything is taking off for you.   Smiley

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

i hear ya

its strange, but flight training in northeast Texas seems to be booming right now for some reason.

I spoke with an examiner today who had one airplane at her small school last we spoke...

...now she has a tail dragger and several gliders  which are flying daily Cheesy go figure!

Must be very satisfying to finally launch your own enterprise, and see that it hasn't sunk before leaving port. Grin

Congrats... and hang in there. Wink

"For only $49, you or a loved one can take a 30 minute intorductory flying lesson"

Managed to pick that one out, just pointing it out incase you want to change it. On the introride page. Repeated again towards the bottom of the page.

I think adding a favicon (picture displayed beside the URL, I think it would look nicer than the dogear sheet of paper I am seeing as the icon) would make it also much more professional.

Changing the title in the HTML might also make it better. Currently it is just the name of the URL, such as 'meet'. I think it would look better if you make it into 'Hangar Twenty Two - Meet The Instructor' or something like that.

Great site none the less.

The Quality tab also has a hyperlink at the bottom of the page that says intorductory as well.  Cry

the unfortunate thing... all or most of the text and links which contain the words "introductory flying lesson" quotes were copied from erroneous text.  Cheesy

i had discovered it earlier today - ironically only hours before reading this thread!

this error has since been corrected along with the implementation of a few minor adjustments.

bear with me guys - this site has undergone complete face lifts at least 6 or 8 times since its creation. she is bound to have some bugs and errors.

as if this moment - all text spell checks free of errors.

but im well open to creative and constructive criticism.

please - if you find anything else "wrong" with the site ... do share  Wink

Haha yeah. Websites can be a complete nightmare. I am helping to build one for our cadet squadron... So many errors pop up, usually when they shouldn't (ie, copied code where it worked on one page etc). Just trying to use as much PHP as we can so that one change can be repeated on many pages (loading .txt files inside the HTML)

But I do like it. A lot better than some flying school sites I have seen.
