Hello once again fellow simmers!

long time, no?... sorry for the extended absence... this game-design college thing is INSANE i tell ya...

not to mention i´ve been a little cooked up with starting a little revolution on the Spore forums (that game could have been SO much better)

i´ve also moved... again... that´s always a hassle... even if you´re moving just a few blocks away...

but anyways...

this week i was feeling fly-dry (yes, that´s my term for FS cold turkey) and i picked up the old sim again... it´s so much more fun in a wide 22" monitor hehe!

and i log in here only to see first thing: the POSKY 777! and IT HAS A DVC!! and one of the best i´ve ever seen too... payware quality, indeed...

i was beaten to the punch by that... everything i planned to do in my project 777 is already there...

well... less work for me, no?.... no! nice as it is, the posky 777 doesn´t support FSX quite well... and the posky crew announced they will not support attempts in making it work (do it at your own risk, they said...)

bugger.... oh well... i feel there´s not much of a reason to go on reinventing the wheel, so i figure, instead of making a whole new plane, why not just making the posky one work in FSX?

i started from the post in the FSX forum, where it shows how you can set up the 737 gauges to work in the VC... it worked... kind of... some of the gauges were chopped, and some others don´t fit right and sme info (such as flap position) is unavailable in the VC...

so i started doing some mods myself... i managed to create a blend of the solution suggested in the FSX forum and some ideas of mine where i used the dafault fs9 777 gauges... it looks much nicer now...

then i figured, since i´m already at it, let´s add some FSX style wingviews... and so i did...  was rather easy to copy the entries from the default 747 and tamper a bit so they match the new plane...

i´m almost done with that... in the end, if the posky guys are ok with it, i had in mind to create a install-friendly posky 777 FSX pack (no credit theft intended and freeware, of course)

that´s the least i can do to apologize for my absence, and the fact that i will probably not finish my 777 (not much need anymore, right?)

i´m almost done FSX´ing up the posky bird... all those changes i did today... i just need to figure out now how to get those jetways to line up with the door and we´re set...

then i thought i´d .zip it all up into one click-and-install pack, so ppl don´t have to go in editing .cfg´s just so they can fly their planes...

oh well... picture:

the posky 777-200 DVC with a few gauge mods... using the 737-800 and fs9 777 gauges + wingview and me!
...

happy landings ppl!

Cheers!

Yup, I revised my original post to use the FS9 777 gauge file some time ago. It works just great! I did make a few of my own changes, but that was mainly just personal preference.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

You will need to provide the precise coordinates for each of the doors in the [exits] section of the aircraft.cfg file.

For example, the default 737 has these entries:

Code:
[exits]
number_of_exits = 2
exit.0 = 0.4,  36.6, -5.0,  3.0, 0   //openclose rate percent per second, longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet), type (0=Main 1=Cargo 2=Emergency)
exit.1 = 0.4, -38.5,  4.5, -3.0, 1   //openclose rate percent per second, longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet), type (0=Main 1=Cargo 2=Emergency)
exit.2 = 0.4,  33.5,  3.5, -4.0, 2   //openclose rate percent per second, longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet), type (0=Main 1=Cargo 2=Emergency)

Bit of a shame that the 777 Experience won't be finished -  I had a monster FD ready for it! Oh well, never mind - it works on the Posky model too.
