Has anyone heard of any recent updates regarding this aircraft? It looks outstanding
. There is one concern that I have though. I have an HP a6242n (bone stock) and I was worried if this jet was going to slaughter my frame rates. The comments that I have heard on other forms about this jet have not been very good in this respect
. I would really love to purchase it but I think I need help deciding what I need to do.
Option 1: Don't even think about buying it.
Option 2: Buy it, your frames shouldn't be that bad.
Option 3: Get __ for your computer, it should help with frames. (CPU?
Graphics Card?)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I can't imagine why you give so much credence to anyone who would suggest Option#1, since I know everyone who's flown it and not one has complained thus far.
Option#2.
Yes. Though you have a low end system in today's standards, you still do have enough to run this bird successfully. There are trade-offs that you might expect to make, such as running the LITE version of each of the 3 DDIs, not including VC rain effects, running in VC-only mode or 2D-mode only, etc.
Option#3
When you start flying this beautiful machine, you'll probably be that much more motivated to upgrading your present system over time anyway.

So maybe an Nvidia GeForce 8500 or the 9400? What would be the main difference in buying either one? Anyway, you sound like you know alot about that bad bird, can you tell me more?
It sounds superb, what have the people said about it that have flown it? And thanks for the reply by the way.

Any of the Nvidia GeForce boards in that range will be just fine. Primary is CPU speed. I have a higher end system, but I've seen it run systems that run from slow as molasses to warp. There are some pretty good discussions about this subject on the VRS boards.
Also, if you check on the VRS home page you'll be able to get a much better idea of what level of system is likely to handle what the aircraft can do.
And since you asked, without telling you any more than you'd already be able to glean from the home page and boards, I like to say with the Super Bug "you think, you decide, you select, You DO!"
It's by far the most accurate military model every to have been designed for MSFS in ANY version. There's not a person who has flown it that doesn't agree.

Hi Deacon272, I must say, you have quite a reputation over there at the VRS forms.
Thanks for guiding me there, I'm so hooked on this jet, it's the best. I also hope that by this forum I posted it will sort of spread the word a little. It deserves the recognition. On a different note, I saw one of the forms and someone (I belive it was a beta tester) said that they were getting a steady 35FPS with the Nvidia GeForce 8600. So I think that that CPU will be my final decision, I don't see any need to jump to a quad core 9400 for double the cost. I don't know for sure, but that's what I'm leaning towards anyway. Thanks.

I think your decision is a good one. When the VRS Super Bug FSX version come outs next year, you might want to think a little higher, but no sense in jumping before you've got some experience in it.
Besides, you'll be amazingly surprised at what can be done in FS9. I know I was!!

Did you read the information on the web site?
This current version is FS9-only, with the FSX version slated for release around Q3 next year.
However, this aircraft would most definitely merit a reinstall of FS9. Your choice, but that's exactly what I did and haven't regretted it at all. In fact, it's damned refreshing flying with the higher framerates again.

It's a best guess. BUT....bear in mind that this aircraft has been over 4 years in the design (and it shows it). It would seem reasonable to think that porting to FSX format in most of the areas would go smoothly. But the complex nature of all the other things it can do might take longer than anyone knows right now.
Sorry I can't be more certain.

One question, are they going to add alot of other features that FS2004 doesnt support and make it more laggy? Or, do they have everything set and are just trying to convert it to FSX as is?

What type of features can FSX support that FS9 can't?
