I believe they already did something similar. They were trying to prove if a free-falling bullet would be fatal. They determined it isn't.

I would doubt very much if it had. Probably someone outside the racetrack or even a distance away. Had it been in the racetrack we would have had the media in a frenzy about a terrorist attack at a sporting event. Sortly after a profile of the gunman, his family, his dog, interviews with past co-workers, pictures of his redneck-mobile, psychoanalysis by a well known TV trick cyclist and not forgetting and interview with a guard at Guantanamo.

well I suppose you make a good point, the racetrack is located near a wooded area. However it is still well within the very populated Dallas/Ft Worth area, and why someone would be hunting around that area is beyond me. It seems to me that a bullit traveling fast enough to injure someone would have to be pretty close.
