Poll
Question:
What Sci-Fi /Spacecraft would anyone like to see..
The "Batwing" from the first (80's) Batman movie
"Space Balls" Winnebago
The "Gunstar" from The Last Star Fighter
Earth Alliance Shuttle from Babylon-5
"Thunderbolt" Star Fury, Babylon-5
"C-57" from "Forbiddeen Planet"
Something from my warped imagination
something from your warped imagination
Not SciFi/Space, but simply weird

Some time, on or about, October 30th, I should be receiving a copy of "The GMAX Bible. (Yip! Yip! Yip! Yahooo!) Hopefully, that will help me over a few humps.
But first off will most likely be the 80's Buck Rogers "Thunderfighter". I found a web site with some very detailed three views, so that's a great help.
But *after the "Thunderfighter", I'm open to a suggestions from the above list. I have a long list of craft I want to start with, but it's a long list, so I trimmed it down (And, unlike that weirdo that posted a few weeks ago, I'm not promising to pump one out over a weekend! This will be for 'down the road', after the Thunderfighter, however long that takes.)
Also, as the last two options imply, I'm open to suggestions, but please, not another "737-XXX" There are enough 737's to build a bridge across the atlantic!Something "Spacy", "Novel", "Unusual", "Exotic", and challenging, please (But not so challenging that it will take years to make!)
If you have something from *your* warped imagination, needless to say, I will need all info possible (Please, sci-fi, in this case, no "Here's my idea to revolutionize flying as we know it", but rather a craft form a movie or series not on the poll, or somethng you did dream up, and is sci-fi/space orientated.)
There is no real rush on this, since I haven't even started on the Thunderfighter yet. (and I did not see the option for how long this poll will be active.....
)
Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to sit out next to the mail box....

Ditto! It may not have been the best movie made, but for virginal CGI, the graphics were pretty darn cool. I'm no modeler, but I wouldn't think it would be too hard to make. ("Although, "Death-Blossom" might be tricky)

I've seen a couple on here from The Thunderbirds Series but not all of them.
I also like the Gunstar.

Yes, the "Death Blossom" may be tricky. On the other hand, if I can get that to work, I might do a CFS2 version.
But I don't think that would actually be too hard to do. I imagine the "Death Blossom" effect could be achived by making an "invisable dead stop" spoiler on one side with another "invisable" or automatic elevator input to induce a pitch effect, followed by launching all the missile weapons in a rapid sequence.
I guess another way would be reverse thrust on one side, or killing all thrust on one side, plus the added pitch. Reverse thrust on one side would probably work best for that method

You are my hero for even thinking about making it!
All of your selections bring back great memories.
I have a couple of fs9 models that look like they are performing 'Death Blossom' when I get them up to 100,000ft!

I'd love to see the Winnebago with a full VC, plus Barf sitting next to you! Although it might have to be payware if you want to resurrect John Candy so he can pose for the modeling process!

As luck would have it, there's a "Winnie" in parked in some guys front yard, one street from where I live that would be perfect for a "photoreal" texture map. The thing doesn't look like it's been on a trip in years. It doesn't look like it's been washed in years either, for that matter.. Just adds to the flavor, I guess.

Lol, I'm not sure I've heard of any of these.
Well, the "Batwing" is from the Batman movie that came out in the mid 80's and stared Micheal Keaton as Batman/Bruce Wayne
"Spaceballs" is a Mel Brooks movie that is mainly a parody of "Star Wars", but he pokes fun at a lot of genra icons, from "Star Trek" to "Planet of the Apes" and "Alien". The Winnie is a typical Winebago RV with two wings mounted on top, with two "jet-like" engines.
The "Gunstar" is from the movie "The Last Star Fighter" and as mentioned above, was one of the first CGI vehicles that looked fairly real, as opposed to the CGI of "Tron", a Disney flick that was "matrix" before the "Matrix" movies came out. (Incedently, "Tron II" is in production, and I think due out in 2011. Jeff Bridges returns in his original role)
The Babylon 5 "Thinderbolt" is similar to the regular Star Fury of the series, in that it has an "X" wing configuration, but is much more streamlined and has atmospheric capabilities, and a "chin turret" weapon station.
The C-57D was the "flying saucer" used in the movie "Forbidden Planet", staring Leslie Nielson (before he went comedy), Walter Pidgeon, and Ann Francis (Hubba, hubba!), and introduced the iconic "Robbie the Robot".
The last catagory is something "real" but maybe not actually built, like the proposed delta wing version of the X-15 (Which is on my "long list").
Aside from that, YIP YIP YIP Yahoo, the Book arrived today. Which is kind of nice since it was starting to get a bit chilly out by the mail box..

Do a search for the trailer. It's not an official release trailer, but one recorded at a Sci-Fi convention (Comicon, I think). But the special effects are kept in check in order to recapture the same feel and archetecture of the original. So, the Light Cycle (featured in the trailer) is easily recognizable, but with subtle added detail and crisper rendering. It has a nice "retro-techno" look that keeps with the original.
