WINNERS, WINNERS, WINNERS

Judge An has come up with the goods! He says:

“Communism: 1 Capitalism: 0

A great JC this week, it was quite difficult to choose...

This weeks winner is…

Gtirob01!

...

CONGRATULATIONS, GTIRob01!!!!

This image really captures the theme of the competition - no chance an F-15 is gonna shoot down this TU-22, not with that terrain masking, and not with all that ground clutter.

In second place, SeanTK

...

Very nice hi-res paint. Lots of action in the background too.

In third, Krigl

...

This shot captures the power of those engines - you can almost feel the brakes struggling to hold her as she spools up.

One more shot I would like to mention...

By Aussiewannabe

...

Simply put, it is just a beautiful representation, of a strategic bomber, soaring above the clouds while heading to its target.

Once again, great competition, and congratulations to all the winners. Wink

An-225"

So, another great Judge’s Choice comp over…Judge GTIRob01 has been informed…and I hope to see a new one up Wednesday-ish for our delectation. Thanks as always to all who take part!!

Cheers

Krigl

Hooray for more Russian related contests!!!  Cheesy
I already have my VIP plane selected (relax, its not a -154), and now I just need to form the perfect shot! I'll see if I have time to submit one this weekend.

One of the Soviet Unions' most underestimated aircraft, the Myasishchev bomber usually known as the M-4 'Bison' or 'Molot' has probably been at least as important to the development of the Long-Range Aviation (DA) and the AVMF (Soviet Naval Aviation) as the better known Tupolev Tu-95 'Bear'.

Developed by Vladimir M. Myasishchev in 1952, in answer to the Soviet government's demand for a bomber capable of delivering a strike on United States territory, the M-4 Bison was the nation's first four engine turbojet to become operational. Range: 8,100 km (5,030 mi) ferry; 5,600 km (3,480 mi) combat radius.

Spasiba, for getting the contest up Krigl. Wink

Great start to the contest guys.

Richard, any Russian/Soviet bomber/VIP aircraft are allowed, as long as they wear a Soviet/Russian paint. Long Range Aviation is just the division most bombers were allocated to in the VVS. Wink

OK... hint for the judges... Tu-142 is NOT part of the 'PVO Dalny'... that one is from Naval Aviation (operating under a totally different command structure).... they do fly Tu-22M3s too but carry different markings

Il-78s are allowed (aerial refuellers), tu-126 is NOT (that one is from PVO Strany)

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

Relax Ivan....we know you know a lot about this Russian stuff, and that can be helpful for all of us... but I have a feeling that for this contest, if it has Russian military markings, and it can fly for long distances, it's good, but I'll let An-225 make the final call.
Not all of the contestants know the minute details of what served where and with whom, and it would be difficult to disqualify a shot based on a lack of knowledge of this degree.

Ivan, Sean is right. Just as long as it is a Soviet/Russian transport/bomber with Russian military markings, it is fine. Wink

That Tu-142 was slipped in because I had to race to send the pics to Krigl, and it was the only thing resembling a transport I could find under 50 mb.

I just to use this model for this comp. Even though there is no VC, it looks and sounds just great, and it even flexes its wings in bad weather...

I still haven't seen a Tu-95V releasing Tsar Bomba - or a Tu-22 at low altitude over Alaska - still room for more shots. Wink

Thanks! That was kind of a last minute idea. Went a little with what AN was looking for in the low level thru Alaska idea, but substituted Alaska for Bella Coola, Canada. Then edited it a bit.
