I bought Wilco's 777 for FSX, and every time i try and install it, i gt to the screen where it says creating directory, and every time it gets to the point where it tells you to press next, it keeps coming up saying "please select you correct FS2004 directory"

...

...

...

And when I went to Wilco's web site to fill out the form, first they got mad i did not fill out the help form that I could not find at first so they sent me the link to that, and they wanted to know every thing about my PC including what I used to extract the file and my sound card, but after finding all the stuff that had nothing to do with my question this is what they finally had to say:

Quote:
Dear Customer,

Below are important notes about our products and the Operating Systems :

* Although they may work with our products, we do not technically support the use of 64 bits Operating Systems. We only technically support 32bits Operating System (Windows XP or Vista 64 bits excluded).

* In order to avoid Crash To Desktop (CTD) when using Flight Simulator X versions of Wilco products under Windows Vista, they must be installed under full administrator rights. Then, be sure to give full rights to your complete Flight Simulator folder.
Consult your Windows Vista documentation or your system administrator to find out how to configure these settings or look at our SUPPORT page.

* Under Vista, make sure to run the installation with full Administrator rights.

* We do not support the use of our FS2004 add-ons under Windows Vista (although they may work).

Best regards,

So right now I'm at the point that if I can't get this installed, I will send it directly to them with a nasty letter thanking them for nothing Angry, or just giving it away to what every SimV member wants it. Wink

It's likely your registry is BROKEN.

http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library

REPAIR IT USING THAT TOOL.

If that doesn't work, open that tool again and set the FS2004 registry path to your FSX path, install, then set it back again.

I tried that tool, and all it does is open up a folder that says search for EXE. files or something. But any ways I tried it both ways going through every thing in the FSX folder, and it just says there is no file to open.

"You will need to browse to your FSX.EXE or FS9.EXE location (depending on your sim version) when you press on of the buttons below." So.... browse to FSX.exe which should be in the FSX root directory... If it's not there, your installation is corrupt. Does fsx even work? Because payware installation files usually try and find either registry or fsx.exe.... if it doesn't then you can't install.... and you likely cannot run fsx in the first place.

It runs fine, right after I posted that I started up FSX and flow from Egypt, to Cyprus, to Spain with no issues.

So far i only have 2 pay panes, PMDG 747, and CLS DC-10, and they both work fine.

I have the same issue and I am running windoxs XP and my fsx is running just fine.. and my fsx installation is 100% default. and Im running PMDG 747-400 and eaglesoft CJ1 with no problems.

Im thinking there is a bug in the installation file, and I will demand a refund even if they say it cant be done...

so I wrote support as well. i

well I got this half ass reply from their support

Dear Customer,

As we don't experience the same problem, we assume that a new and clean installation will solve the problem. This is about the add-on, but may be required for your Flight Simulator too.

Be sure to install the latest available version.

VERY IMPORTANT for FSX USERS : our Flight Simulator X add-ons require FSX Service Pack 1 and VS2005 (more information can be found at http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Pages/FlightSimulatorXServicePack1.aspx)

When you reinstall an add-on, please be sure to manually uninstall its liveries first.

Hint : please make sure to also install the latest video drivers.

Best regards,

Yeah I just spent the last hour messing with mine, and repairing FSX, and still nothing, Does them same thing still looks for FS2004 files.

Gone try and be nice to them one more time and see what BS answer they give, before I go off on them.

I mean how can you treat your PAYING customers like this? Angry
