Hello folks.
I never thought of asking here; mainly I just download everythink I can find and discard the wreckage later. Smiley

Anyhoo; I would personally love to find the type of aircraft described in the title: a mid to large size passenger liner with a fully-realized VC - in other words; one witha full complement of instruments, switches etc. in which one can go through an entire range of flight checklists.

I have two: David Maltby's superb BAC 1-11, and Project Tupolev's Tu-154.
Both astonishing, wonderful aircraft.

I'd just like smething a little newer; with a glass cockpit.

This is an incredibly rare request from me - most folks here know I prefer down-and-dirty bush bashing instead of flying the aluminum sausage; but I'm just trying to round out my collection. Cheesy

Freeware if possible; but payware wouldn't be sneered at. Smiley

Failing all of that, a ship with a really good luxury passenger cabin would be nice too.

If anyone has a line to such aircraft, I'd be truly grateful. Smiley

Cheers!

I've always enjoyed the 737 experience http://www.simviation.com/fs2004jets84.htm it's at least as good or better than any other freeware modern civil jet out there IMHO, and think most would agree  Cool

Well, it looks like you are already using the wonderful Tu-154, which in my opinion is the most accurate and best modern jet available (they even use it at the Tupolev factory as a procedural trainer. And if your using the M model, I would definately consider it a "modern" jetliner....the b2 model is a little older.), but as far as glass cockpits go, I would suggest the following (these have at least nice looking VC's, but I don't know how much actual buttion pushing you will get out of them):

Freeware:
Project Opensky Boeing 777-200
Project Opensky Embraer Series
Ilyushin IL-96 by Kirill Konovalov

Payware:
PMDG Boeing 747-400
Level-D Boeing 767

Thanks much folks!

lots of new airplanes to try.
Admittedly my standard is set pretty bloody high; after David Maltby, P.T. and whoever came up with the HS-748 and Argosy packages.

I'm workiong right now but will have time to try these all in the near future. Thanks again! Smiley

The VC is there. But Posky is challenged at writing installation instructions. Just for your enjoyment, they decide to make about 100 different versions of their aircraft....With and without VCs...Winglet... models....you really need to have some time dedicated if you want to get the airplane working correctly.

Luckily, Gtirob has a post about how he got his to work, you could try there.

The link I posted has the link to that thread. Sorry, I forgot to mention there is a little work with that one, but worth the effort when done.
The others should all be free of needed modifying as they are made for FSX.

Yeah; I've more or less given up on POSKY myself; which is a shame - they do some good work. Heck - I couldn't make a paper airplane in GMax; so anything anyone comes up with I have to admire. But really - I've never had a successful install from those guys without long, frustrating hours of 'try this, try that'. I'm not complaining (yeah, right), it's their site but it really is aggravating. Smiley

Hi Staiduk. Long time no see. Wink

First of all it would help to know which sim this is for. From looking at your recent posts I assume it's for FS9 in which case it's pointless people suggesting FSX-only files. I find installing the Posky aircraft confusing to say the least but I would have thought a repaint configured as a complete aircraft would be easier than most. I'm downloading the Delta Airlines 777-200 as I type & will report back later.

Hi Hagar!

Yup, you're right - I should've specified FS9 only. Me old computer has enough trouble as it is; FSX would probably blow it up. Grin

Right. I see that Romflyer is having the same problems. I finally got that Delta 777 working with a VC. Very nice it is too.
...

This involves a bit of work (downloading & installing different files etc.) but I can post detailed instructions if you wish.

The first thing to do is get the main textures to display. Open Aircraft.cfg in Notepad & remove the noc from the texture= entry.

[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing 777-200ER Rolls Royce-Trent 895 Project Opensky Delta NOC
sim=Boeing 777-200ER Rolls Royce-Trent 895
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=noc
checklists=

Alternatively you could rename the texture folder to texture.noc

Thank you Hagar for the nudge in the right direction  Wink is removing the noc all I need to do to get the VC functioning? or as you stated earlier the same post, that there were several different files to download?
That VC does look fantastic  Shocked is everything in it clickable? because the last plane from them that I actually got to function, the VC looked pretty darn good but nothing in it worked  Huh and switching back and forth and back and forth between VC and 2d kinda sucked the fun out of it  Tongue

Hi Staiduk.

I've recently been flying a great freeware MD-11 with a great dynamic VC, available to download from the Overland website (here http://www.overland.co.jp/japaneseairports/index.html). It has only one livery but you can find more on the web. Glass cockpit, flexing wings, good detail. Worth a try.

Hi Romflyer. No, when I first tried it the aircraft was all grey with no textures. The simple Aircraft.cfg edit (or renaming the texture folder) will fix that. The Delta model posted HERE has no VC. This involves downloading several files from the Posky site to install & work properly. I'll post a walkthrough later.

I just tried it & apart from the autopilot & a few switches most VC gauges do not appear to be clickable. Bear in mind that I'm more used to open cockpit light aircraft so I might have missed something.

For anyone interested this is how I installed the Delta Airlines 777-200 complete with VC to FS9. Installation should be quite straightforward. Please refer to my earlier reply to get the textures to display.

The Delta model has no VC so once it's installed & working properly in FS9 you will need to download the VC model from the Posky website. This is the Rolls-Royce Trent 895 version of the 777-200 so download the second file from the bottom here. http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=842ytv5p8&location=modelpac...
The file description is VC_SP1_Trent800 (OS772V2_Trent800_VC) & the file name is OS772V2_TRENT800_VC_SP1.zip. Installation is a simple matter of pasting the included model folder into the main folder of your Delta Airlines repaint. Overwrite files/folders when prompted. This will give you an untextured VC with no gauges.

The VC textures are posted here. http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=842ytv5p8&location=panelpac...
Note that there are two different options. This is a matter of preference. I chose the DXTBmp textures. Paste all the included textures into the texture folder of your Delta 777.

The VC panel is also posted on the above page. (os777v2_VC_panel_SP1B.zip)
To install it paste the included Panel folder complete with gauges into the main folder of your Delta 777. (Before doing so I renamed the existing panel folder to panel.0 to back it up.)

Now with a bit of luck & a following wind you should have a Delta 777-200 with a full DVC.

Indeed there are several clickable gauges. For example, see how there are 4 of the same mfd's? Well, the 2 center ones can be changed. Just in front of the throttles, and directly below the bottom gauge, there are some buttons on the left side.... just click on those and you "should" be able to cycle thru different screens.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

I to have recently been spending some quality time with this MD11, and it is of similar quality to the 737 experience, so now I have two big (modern) cigars that are worth keeping  Cool  And the best part is that the people who made them actually took the time to make them function correctly before they put them out their  Roll Eyes

Hopefully someone will take the time to finish one of those 777s and upload them to Simv so that those of us who dont have the time or ability to finish what posky couldnt make the effort to do  Wink

Should be no problem if you follow my walkthrough in this thread. I even posted links to the various downloads.

I could upload my version but I won't, mainly as I don't wish to upset the guys at Posky. I also don't wish to leave myself open to criticism by the FS community at large if they happen to find some little thing wrong with it.
