when it comes to designing an airplane for FS2004-- or any iteration of FS, for that matter. I have had FSDSv3 for over a year and a half. I installed it just this evening and I see I must get two more files from Microsoft before I can proceed with the design of the water tower. I need the BGLComp and MakeMDL files or whatever they are. The little manual that comes with FSDSv3 doesn't make much sense to me regarding these downloads. Where do I get them? What do I do with them once I have them? I clicked on the button in v3 that allegedly downloads the files, my screen went white as did my hair in the time I waited for something to happen. After a cup of coffee, a ham sandwich a little later, then washing and drying my clothes, I came back to see-- nothing. Are these two elusive files or thingys to be had here? Am I doing something wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated...

My system: AMD Phenom 9500 cpu, 2 x eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked vidcards (640Mb DDR3 each), Zalman "sunflower" 9700 fan, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 2 x Sony 20X DVD writers, Thermaltake Toughpower 850W modular p/s, 7 x 120mm fans, Windows XP Home and SP3, 2 x 250Gb Western Digital SATA-300 HDs (1 for apps, 1 for storage and precious files backup), CoolerMaster CM 690 case, NOD-32. Won't run FSX. Locks up a lot with FS9, too.

Those two files are for the converter that creates the MDL files and BGL files for FS to use in rendering your model.

You can find them in the SDKs.

Make Model (makemdl)
BGL Comp

After you download them, they need to be added to your FSDS directory in a certain folder, although I use Gmax, so I don't know where to put them.

It's a start. Thank you, Travis...

I have downloaded the two files. Anybody want to chime in and clue me as to where they go? Would they go into the two blank slots in FSDSv3-- the ones that have the names on them for these files? Let's assume yes. How is it done?

It's been a few minutes since the stuff above. I have "Run" the files and installed what came out of the run. They installed into their own folders. I would assume they are supposed to be used in the FSDSV3 folder in order to allow v3 to function. Is that correct? I guess I'll give the water tower a go now...

I think I have solved the BGL and MakeMDL files question. Look below; please tell me if that looks correct.

As long as you put them somewhere, and FSDS can find them, it's okay.

That's a good setup.

Now, proceed and do the tutorials in the help files, and you'll be on your way to creating something!
