Recently, I  was notified by some of my friends that they have received emails from my hotmail account which appear to be selling electronics, pornography, and black market goods.  I of course did not send these.  I did some research and found that this is referred to as a "Joe Job" where spammers forge email adresses and send spam.

Has this happened to anyone before?  Does anyone have any advice?  I plan on reporting this to my ISP so I am not denied service, and I sent a brief email to my contact list explaining this.

Have never heard of that so obviously I haven't had it happen to my knowledge.
Are spammers running out of fake e-mail adresses and now have to resort to stealing legitimate ones?

I from time to time, receive spam from my own E-mail address. Although my brother once showed me how easy it is to display a different E-mail address on a account, so i dont worry about it too much.

Isn't that the nature of a worm? They infect email accounts, and self replicate, sending themselves out to contacts in your address book?
