I am looking for a freeware program that will allow me to edit the ATC options at KMDT. I am hoping to be able to select wich runway I can take off from and land at ingame. I would like to be able to land Downwind the runway as the aircraft seem to do in real life (I live near the airport).

In game if I select ILS runway 13 approach coming from the north I am told to circle and land runway 31. If this is what is really happening then im fine with it but right now I see to many CRJ-700 head straight for runway 13 and would like to be able to do the same.

On a side note, Microsoft put the Localiser Antenna bar 300ft inside runway 31 instead of 300ft off the edge of the runway  Shocked. I would like be able to move this so I can use the runway .

Thanks,
Aiden

before you start your flight go into weather settings and adjust your wind to be favourable to the runway you want, then press 'fly now' and atc will vector you to rnwy13  Wink

To my knowledge there is no program to edit the behavior of ATC. It cannot be changed  by editing the airport.

If you do have options to select a different runway to land, they will be available from the ATC window. ATC will not allow you to land in conflict with ai landing patterns (whether ai are present or not), and therefore a downwind landing would not be an option.

As for the misplaced LOCAN. That is a scenery object, not autogen, so controlled by the 'scenery complexity' slider. Reduce the slider to 'dense' or less and the LOCAN will not be rendered.

To remove (exclude) the scenery object, you can use the ExcBuilder for FSX utility, found here http://www.scenery.org/design_utilities_b.htm

(The download does not include a help file. You can download ExcBuilder v2.0 (for FS2004) from the same location and read it's help file for basic instructions. Disregard the requirements for 'Bglcomp' and 'FSConnect'..those are not required for the FSX version.)

I would rather move the LOCAN than not use it as I like all the extra things that apear on the extremely dense slider.

Didn't AFCAD2 used to make runways selectable?

Also runway 13 has more lights than runway 31 and has a shorter displaced section. Is there any anthing I can do to change AI traffic patterns to make the airport realsitic?

Thanks,
Aiden

When you adjust the winds for your favourite runway, then your AI will also use the runway in use, they will automatically use the correct runway 13

I understand but I want to fly IFR from boston with real world weather and changeing the runway ahead of time will be a bit hard. Is there any way to physicaly change this data like AFCAD2 did for FSX?

If you want to edit the airport.....

If you have the FSX SDK installed, you can download the freeware Airport Design Editor v1.25 (ADE) from here-http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_scenery8.htm.
Once installed, run the program and goto Help>Check for updates to get the latest update.  Support is available here http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=95

If you do not have the FSX SDK then the only airport editor available is Flight 1's Airport Facilitator X (payware) here-http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=afxv1

If you are using real-world weather then the current conditions will dictate the runway in use, and the AI will follow suit

I understand that but that is not how the airport operates.

In real life ILS is directed to runway 13 wich is downwind becuase it has a slightly longer usable space and more lights. Also in real life during a Cat II and Cat III ONLY downwind is used.

Flight sim has everything reversed and all im asking is can I change it in fsx. Its can be done in FS2004 with afcad is FSX difrent? I really don't want to force winds.

Heres the airport if you want to see it http://www.airnav.com/airport/KMDT
