And diffuser.
Thanks to the autosport forums by way of Williams and Jerez.
The rear wing. Going to take some getting used to, reminds me of the pile of rubbish that was last years A1GP car.
The diffuser looks like something from a Le Mans car.

I don't understand that. Why go to all the trouble & expense of streamlining the car right down to the driver's helmet & then fit a darned great airbrake on the back? It doesn't make any sense.

Part of the new rules to "improve overtaking"
The new rear wing offers less downforce, and in turn creates far less turbulent air for the car behind, which will mean it can follow closer to it, and thus have a better chance of overtaking in the next corner. Later on today Mclaren might be testing the 2009 front wing, which is supposed to be lower and wider, think, as wide as the front wheels and roughly as low as the middle scoop on the williams front wing.
Sad fact is, we are getting more overtaking in the last few races, then there has been in the last few seasons, some of it down to the weather, but also I think now drivers have had a couple of seasons to get used to the cars as they haven't really changed much they are able to learn and exploit where to take chances. As one team boss said last month, next year the field will be spread out more than this year with all the changes. so much for saving money.
Anyone else read that, that twit Palmer has been given the tender for the new F2 series. Lets just hope he's not shoved on our tv screens all the time when its shown.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, the memories. Graham Hill, Lotus/Ford, and the beautiful Gold Leaf Tobacco color scheme by the looks of it.

They couldn't make the wing more wide than long?

It tisn't the width so much as it's the height. Take a look at the Williams FW-13, Benneton B188, Ferrari F189, 1989 Lamborghini/Larrousse, and others from the late 80s to early 90s.
