If he can post 4,000 screenshots a week, then I'm sure if he cut back to oh say, 1 a day, he could have gotten this out at least 3 months ago.

Grin Grin Grin

This issue has become a joke IMO, I have been following the progress thread since its first post.

Infact I have noticed a trend, He posts some shots, users go beserk, then thing quite down.

After a while, he post shots, people go beserk then things go quite.....

Updates? Lol these guys just post random shots, some shots on the forums is repeat of old shots taken.

IMO most of the recent sky shots look no different from some of those shot in the very beginning.

Now I don't doubt this been in real development, but these guys are trying to hype their product.

Reminds me of Spore, by the time it got released those who bought it were extremely disapointed. One of the very symptoms of over hyping equals disapointment.

When it gets released, 2020 for all we know, I wont buy this product directly after release. I will give it a few weeks while I browse player reviews & support forums.

That will give me an idea of how well this runs, it sure does seem like a FPS hog.

As for when it release, IMO this Tim's "Coming soon" posted OCT 2007 has no credibility with me, he doesint know what soon means.

Just my 2 cents....

PS: If their support forums (WHen this product gets released some age) provide feedback soon, then I wont buy this product, because their soon is never, or ages.

I mean, if Avsim took away the support forums and FSW locked the topic of the "dawn of a new era" then I'm sure it would suddenly be released quickly.

I just so, so, so hope that the hype is justified....

...but do resent the fact that I didn't buy Active Sky after I bought Flight Environment X back in Autumn 2007 because I was under the impression that either REX, or FEX's weather engine would be out 'soon'. I could have been enjoying a weather engine for nearly a year by now, but instead I let those guys lead me along with the old 'we don't give release dates but it's soon, soon, soon' chestnut.

I think the reason why both REX and FEX weather engine are taking so long is that the weather engine is an incredibly complex thing which is much more difficult than mere textures to get right. Active Sky have been doing it for years - who knows how long it took them to come up with their Version 1 weather engine. I just wish they'd be a bit more honest with their future customers and say - it'll be at least six months before it's ready instead of 'soon'...

Resentment, yes. Will I buy REX if the reviews are good anyway... of course... Roll Eyes Grin

Well, I still intend to by Active Sky since a couple of very reliable sources from SimV have recommended it.

If this ever gets released I will see what others say and see if it is compatible with my upper mid level machine and perhaps make the purchase..

BigTruck,

Make sure that you get the correct version of ActiveSky for the sim you are running.  The version for FSX does not work in fs2004.
