The biggest problem for us (over here), is when the Chaps (over there), organise their Flights for 8 PM (their time)....

We have to count forward 5, 6, or 7 hours, which places us (over here) tucked up safely in our beds, cuddling our Teddy Bears... Smiley...!

F.

P.S. Note my great affection for using AM and PM rather than that confusing 24 hour clock malarkey... Cool...!

That's what I mean. It would be much easier for everyone if you ALL work in GMT/UTC. That's the way it's done in the real world. Imagine the confusion if airlines worked to local time. Click my link to see the current time in GMT/UTC ---> http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_UTC.aspx

'Trubble is, it rarely relates to our differing local times, (the time on our wall clocks), when ready for a Multiplayer Flight..... Shocked...!

...fer instance....my clock in my wall tells me its 10:42 AM...but the GMT/UTC Clocks says its 9:42 AM...

The same problem exists for them, (over there), during their Daylight Saving Hours... Sad...!

I always check the flight sim server, but it doesn't help me if I don't know what time to check  Tongue  So if I am GMT-7 then that would make me BST-8 right?  Which means this flight goes at noon here...I'll be there if Im awake lol rough week at work!

Should be no problem if you ALL work in GMT as I suggested. This clever little gizmo was created specifically for this sort of thing. http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_UTC.aspx

Quote:
(UTC/GMT) Time Converter

If you have a web cast, online chat, teleconference call or other event where users from all over the world would want to attend at the same time, this (UTC/GMT) time zone converter offers you and your audience an easy way to quickly calculate the correct time that an event will take place in (UTC/GMT) compared to any other International location.

I still think it would be much easier for everyone if you ALL worked in GMT. Then local time makes no difference at all. That was the idea of GMT in the first place.

I'm guessing, but we all probably look at the clocks on our individual walls and calculate the time from there...

OK. I give up. Tongue

Surely it's not that difficult to work out. http://www.aopa.org/path/time.html

Quote:
Aviation Time

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is international time, the basis of the world time clock. It helps eliminate confusion across multiple time zones. It is also known as UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Aviators commonly refer to it as Zulu time.

Aviators use this worldwide, 24-hour time to eliminate confusion about "a.m." and "p.m." and different time zones. It makes time comparisons and conversions easier.

Converting 12-hour to 24-hour time:

    * No difference in morning hours, just precede with a "0" up through the 9 o'clock hour (6 a.m. = 0600).
    * After 12 noon, just add 12 to the hours (3 p.m. = 1500).
    * In either case, minutes follow hours (no colon) (0615, 1530).

Greenwich, England, was chosen as "zero hour" because it is longitude 0 degrees 0 minutes 0 seconds. If you live in the eastern United States, your local time is GMT minus 5 hours (4 hours for daylight-saving time [DST]); if you live in the West, your local time is GMT minus 8 hours (or 7 for DST). So if you're in New York City and it's noon, the Zulu Time is 1700Z (or 1600Z for DST). Because Zulu Time is based on a 24-hour clock, if it's 5 p.m. (DST) in New York City, that would be 2100Z (5 p.m. is 1700 hours, so it's 17 plus 4).

I don't see why that would be a problem. The USA is a huge country. It's the same as dealing with different time zones in Europe or Asia. Before retiring I used to telephone people all over the world with no trouble at all. That's where GMT comes in so handy as it's the same all over the world & never changes.

Hank and Dwayne both live in South Dakota*.

Hank has decided to go down the Pub.
He has previously arranged with his his good neighbour, Dwayne, just across the street, to meet him there.

The Pub is in Hanks Time Zone.
The time on Hank's wall clock is 8 PM.
He has previously arranged to meet Dwayne in the Pub at 8:15 PM

The time on Dwayne's wall clock is 7 PM, 'cos hes in a different Time Zone.

How do they both manage to join each other, at the same time, down at the Pub?

Does poor old Hank always have to get the Beers in an hour before Dwayne arrives each time?... Cry...!
