I installed the 177.92 beta driver on my system and my (unscientific) opinion is this is the best driver I've used to date.  least amount of stutters I've experienced.

Folks need to try this out.

This is actually not a bad site to get an idea about driver perf

http://www.alcomsplace.com/ut3_bench_forceware_drivers.htm

Scroll down to the list, UT3 Benchmark Final Results - Forceware Driver Comparison... then click AVG FPS twice to sort the list based on the best average FPS

174.74 beta is still the champ

but drivers are also system related so YMMV from revision to revision. If you find something that works, stick with it and dont risk the change unless you are willing to play ..

Ahhhh Nick... I caught you on the AVSIM forums giving kudos to 177.92! Wink

By the way, nice exchange there yesterday with what's-his-name.  I read his posts too and I don't agree with him-especially every time he says "just get an 8800GT".  My ultra will CRUSH that GT.

And the memory...and the hard drives...If you want to play you gotta pay and that's all there is to it...LOL!  I'd love to show some other FSX junkies like myself what my system can do.  And I know it could do more with DDR3 2000 CAS7. Grin

the kuddos for 177.92 were for the GTX280 card not the 8800

go back and read.. you did not catch anything  Wink

And I found it unfortunate I had to resort to that however there is a long history there with a smart-mouth know it all and what happened was not centered around that one conversation

I got sick and tired of a engrish major bull$hit artist passing himself off as an engineer and having people end up in the fourms asking for perf help after listening to that advice

I know it's off subject but I really wish you weren't the only one on that board telling that guy to shut up.  Thanks to him now you won't be around there anymore and that sucks.  What he says is crap.  Of course it's not my place to say anything (I'm not even registered there) but I wish I could tell him to get the hell out and stop misleading people.

Latin:- "evanescere"  to dissipate like vapor

He is dead Jim
