Right guys,

I'm wanting to get into the world of overclocking. Where did you guys learn it all? Obviously there its lots of "from experience" learning, but where did you start?

Websites? Books? Other people? Etc.

Thanks in advance

Tom

P.S. It's a Stock Q6600 with stock fan, on an MSI P6N SLI V2, with 2GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM and an Nvidia 8600GTS with 512MB DDR3 memory.

I spent ages reading all about it in forums, and only once i understood things, started to play about a bit, within limits as im still learning myself.

I just started overclocking my e8400. running it at 4Ghz now (and this is also on the first full computer i've built). Everything I've learned has been from forums, looking over and cross-referencing peoples posts, and finding those who seem to know a little more about the subject  (WinkNickN)

the forum I use most for that sort of info was slizone and when i did get around to the 4Ghz overclock (2 days ago) i found it relatively simple, although i did not mess with the ram at all.

I read and studied tutorials and then went to it on my system.  I made sure I bought good strong parts that were purpose built for overclocking (motherboard especially).  And since FSX is such a pig you can usually find overclocking advice (be careful there) on avaition simulation forums.  It won't take you long to learn the basics but the experience will take time, just like I'm learning all the time.  I've been fortunate enough so far not to melt my HW.

At this point in time (until the old geezer can't do it no more  Cheesy) I would look for anything Nick N. has to say on the subject.  Any other advice you get better be in line with his or you could be in for problems and headaches.
