Yeah, the slots are on the bottom, my bad, wasn't really paying attention when I took the pic.

Sorry, I'm a little lost here. Why do I need a new motherboard as well as a new case? Or vice versa.

You won't need either, it's fine as long as you just put it in...
It may take some force, just keep pushing a little bit.

I wish I could...

Becuase I don't have that second slot, I can't line the pins on the video card up with the PCI-E slot.

I was lucky, it fits, but it has like 2mm of clearance...It takes some tricky manuvering to get the card in there. But, like I said, I can't actually plug it in. So close, and yet so far  Undecided.

Sorry, but what do you mean by 'socket'?

And yeah, you're right, the card actually would run into my air filter if it were to be installed. I don't know if that changes anything...

Ok, I found what socket means  Grin.

Really, I have no idea what socket my motherboard is. It's just the one dell shipped me, it's not fit out for gaming or anything like those XFX ones are.

All I know about it is that it's manufactured by Dell, and the model is a OWG864. However, a Google search hasn't revealed anything about it.

What does the socket determine? Is that the size or something?

Tell us what processor you have...

LGA 775 is what most motherboards for intel are, and that includes ALL core 2 processors, and some more series of 'em.

It's an Intel PentiumD 820 with a Socket 775 LGA, so I suppose that's your answer  Wink.

Ok, is it possible that you could make a recommendation? I'm a little confused by all the motherboards out there. Do I need an Intel Chipset becuase I have an Intel processor? Or can I go Nvidia? What would be best for FSX?

Thanks for your help everybody.
