This could come in very handy for my projects... once they get off the paper that is  Roll Eyes Nice Find mate!!

too bad it's a bit pricey...

i wonder what ever happened to Leo Bodnar's USB joystick controller?? i sent the guy an email, but he never replied...
he made a nice and quite cheap controller chip that supported up to 8 axes and 32 buttons

Cheers

That is a JOYSTICK emulator... not a keyboard emulator.  Different beast.

A joystick (could be a yoke, pedals, throttle quad, etc.) is a device recognized by windows as a "game controller"  As such, any function that a game (simulation) will allow you to assign via a joystick BUTTON can be directly assigned to that function when the button is pressed.  These usually are inherently limited to momentary contact type buttons, but some allow other types to be used also.

But if what you need to do in the game (simulation) is send KEYSTROKES (like maybe a "Cntrl+SHift+W" to activate the Aerosoft Airport Environment Services main window) since there is no joystick button assignment availablel for it....... you are out of luck with a game controller device.  What you need is a keyboard emulator.

A keyboard emulator "looks" like a standard windows keyboard to the computer system.  The difference is there are no actual keys attached to it.  THAT is where you then attach switches of some sort in your simpit.  Another difference in the emulator from a regular keyboard is that SOME keyboard emulators directly (in hardware) allow the use of switches other than momentary contact type.  So you can use latching toggles, rotaries, and so on easily.

Software like what is bundled with the Hagstrom cards allows you to assign what key stroke(s) are sent when a given switch is opened or closed.  You can assign macros too... so if you want to send something like a standard text message sentence in the chat window on multiplayer, you could.

Hope this helps.

best,
