I'll tell you what John, that hour and a half it took for us to take off, find each other again after my throttle dysfunction, and land, went by so fast, that I didnt even see my wife bring in my dinner haha!!  It was sitting on the chair behind me after we landed.  She was laughing her ass off though when I came running into the living room grinning ear to ear and telling her about our landing!

I had a blast, looking forward to the next one.  I appreciate your patience in typing me the directions and such, I will have a new headset soon I promise, then you will have to teach me team speak haha!

As for the SFO landing, I thought you knew I was living in this area, and was pretty stoked when you told me the flight plan haha, pretty crazy that you randomly picked it.

I just flew in to SFO last weekend from New Orleans and we landed 28R and the captain came over the PA telling us not to worry about the aircraft that was so close to us on our left on approach to 28L, so I had the idea as you were making your approach to pull up next to you and see if I could do 28L wthout disrupting your landing.

I kept an eye on you and had an escape plan if things went awry, but the cross wind was manageable and I wound up pulling ahead of you that last half mile or so, so there wasnt much concern. (not sure if you braked because of me but it didnt look like it)
Looked great from the spot plane view!

Again, thanks for breaking me in John!!!  Hope to fly with you again soon!  (you have no idea how thrilled I am over how much fun I had, such a nice break from the monotony)

Semper Fi,
Justin

PS  those others that jumped on to the server while we were cruising, they were just puttering around in the skies after I finished dinner, so I figured I would buzz them with the Lear.  I held off in a pattern at a distance until they landed of course, as a courtesy, but as soon as they cleared runway I came in unannounced with a touch and go with a vertical climb out and got a good chuckle out of them haha.

Another nice KLAX - KSFO flight with Big Truck tonight.

Came in hot and high and had to go around for me.  Then the 17 knot gusty Active Sky crosswind had me well left of center and floating long on the flare.  But I got it down without the crash effect coming on.  Probably just barely.

I just changed all of my main flight controls (yoke, throttles, rudderrs) over to being handled by FSUIPC... what a difference THAT makes for the basic Windows "joystick" porcessing.  But the controls are a little different sensitivity now... so have to learn the aircraft's quirks again.

Thanks for the flight again BT.

best,

Had a terrific flight John, everything seemed to be working much better for me this time around and going much smoother.  I didn't need to search for you after a throttle failure, and I appreciate you interupting your flight plan to make the loop around KLAX while I fired up and took off!

Landing....sigh.   I was coming in high right behind you, but got cocky after you declared a go around and brought my plane down quick but nice and easy, no extreme G forces or altitude changes, was coming in a lot slower than you so I was able to bleed off the altitude without adverse effects.

I was feeling good about myself and rather proud of my drop into the 28R approach but as I start to settle the plane on to the runway and wait for the signature tire chirp... SMACK.  Everything stopped and the green bar of death came across the top on my sim...forgot to drop my gear on approach Angry  Angry

But other than that I had a great time!  I promise I am getting my headset soon (within the next two weeks)   I know it's a pain in the rear typing in your pit!!!  And I will be a bit less complacent when it comes to landing haha!!

Thanks for a great ride again!

Got on with .mic tonight and did some flying of circuits at KBOS.  (Thanks for joining me.)  He had the Murchison BAe 146-200 in the NWA colors... so I could see him correctly sionce I have that exact plane in my "hangar" too.  A NICE change!

I had Activesky weather running....he didn't.  I was flying real time and he was in daylight.  So we were experienceing very different airport conditions.  (Hard concept to grasp....but simple in multiplayer.) With Tropical Storm Hannah pounding us up here in NH and Mass with heavy rain and some light gusty winds....... Activesky lived up to its name for me.

I have found that Activesky 6.5 really matches the weather outside my window much more than the default real world weather in fs2004 when I set the closest airport (about 10 miles away as the crow flies).

PS:  Now about 9:00 PM Eastern local Saturday night...... might get on later after a break.  Been flying a couple of hours.

I took a ride tonight from Sault Ste Marie (pronounced Soo Saint Marie, located in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan) to Martha's Vineyard in real weather and it didn't show up too bad with Jeppeson.  Couple of hard gusts and some low lying cloud layer, that was it, I imagine that's not so accurate, can't wait for active sky!!!  I flew single player as it was a bit of a longer flight and figured that no one would jump in on a 3 hour flight plan!

BT,

I won't typically be on flying Mondays at all.  Mondays is one of my l...o....n....g teaching days at the college.

With my schedule right now... it'll likely be next Saturday evening before I get in any more online flying.

best,

Bummer Mr. Baymore, but I understand completely as I watch my wife persue her doctorate and see all the work she has to turn in to her professors.

I have to work all this weekend, the reservists are coming in for their monthly drill so I have to be there to "moderate" (aka scream and yell and go tazmanian devil) haha.

I wasn't just directing the post at you though, the server was dead period haha.  Hopefully we'll get off early and I can log some more hours, need to practice landing with my gear DOWN  Wink Grin

Big Truck,

Yeah... us professors are an evil lot.   :evil

I hope to get on the SImV server tonight for a while (Saturday 09-13-08).  Testing out some supposedly improved airfiles and configs for the 146-200 to bring it more toward realism.  We'll see.  Wink

Hope you can maybe get on too.

best,

LOL well I know that the busier the professors keep her with homework the longer I get to spend on flightsim  Wink

Sorry if I missed you tonight, this weekend is "drill weekend" for my reservists (their once a month obligation weekend) so we are working all weekend, long long hours getting them trained and helping them with anything they need, so Im not home much this weekend.  If you aren't too busy destroying your student's social lives this week maybe we can take a spin, I get a long weekend next weekend to make up for the brutal hours of "Drill Weekend"  Cheesy  Wink

After two straight weeks of work I finally get my 3 day weekend recovery, hopefully I'll see some of you online, haven't been on the server recently but I will start checking it tomorrow afternoon when I get home.

Obviously I will have to spend some time with the wife as well since she spends a lot of her time waiting for me to get home each night, but I know she will let me get on the sim for a few hours each night as well.

I'll keep an eye on the server this weekend, hope to get a flight or two in!
