Was online tonight (and on TS) practicing circuits at KBOS and tresting some new gauges in the simpit.

Very lonely in the skies of SimV.  Cry

No one ever uses it unless its a Sat or Sun.
For all gamespy's problems it's still the best server out there.
Perhaps we need to promote the simV server a little more and tempt the members. I dont use it because with FSX they still haven't sorted out the chat crashing the game issue yet Wink
cheers.

Yeah, it sort of depressing looking at the underutilization.  I try to "support" the SimV aspect of this flight server........ but it is no fun flying totally alone just about all the time.

And of the people that DO use it...... about 99 pecent do not seem to use voice communications on Teamspeak....... another furstration for me.  (A simpit is not set up for typing while flying  Wink. ) Not to mention the lack of realism of typing to communicate when there IS a simple voice option available.  Can you imagine if in the real world people had to type and fly?   Grin

The Saturday / Sunday groups are usually in the middle of the afternoon here on the east coast of the USA......... and I really typically can't take the time then off.  I work for myself...... but in the arts field... one works LONG hours for every Dollar.

I am not sure how to "scare up" more SimV participation.  There are thousands and thousands of SimV members... and I've only maybe ever seen at MOST about 25 - 30 different members flying there..... in TOTAL... not just in one session.

Oh well.  Cry

.mic,

Thanks.  Yup, in a 146-200.  The Jon Murcheson model...... in the UA repaint at the moment.

The time difference around the world is always an issue with multiplayer....and THAT one can't be fixed at all  Wink.  Don't go crazy on "burning the midnight oil".  I'm not even sure that I'll be on again tonight.

Also... with the testing work I'm doing, somtimes I am sitting a long time at the gate or on the pad as I change things on other networked computers.  SO it is not all "fun and games" flying for me.  Simpits are complex beasts.....and I am still in the building phase. ( Will I ever finish?   Roll Eyes)

mic,

I was on too..... but apparently didn't overlap your time.  Think I was on from about 7-9 PM local.  Your 11 PM local to 1 AM.  So I would have THOUGHT I would see you.  Maybe I am wrong on the times.

Yeah, Grimshaw's KBOS scenery is wonderful.  Basically payware quality...... for free.  It is a FlyTampa "teaser" airport.  And I have Aerosoft's payware AES package installed for it..... makes it even better.

I've had the UA paint for it (the 200....not the 100 or the 300) so long I can't remember where I got it.

Go to the BAe Panel Project site.  http://www.baepanelproject.com/ ; They have a listing of all of the aircraft and paints for that stuff.  And if you haven't installed Matthias's freeware panel for the 146 / Avro ....... do so.  It is basically a "type trainer".

Thanks for trying.

best,

.....................john

I've hopped on a few times at night (California Time) during the weekdays and it's always empty so I leave and fly my own flights.  I can be on just about everynight if someone gives some time estimates.  I have yet to actually fly multiplayer haha, been on the server many times but its always empty.  I can't use team speek anymore, stupid dog chewed up my USB headphones with the mic last week, so until I get those replaced I'll be limited to text.

I'll probably be on tonight (it is now almost 6 PM here on the east coast).  Have some simpit testing work to do.

Likely will just be flying circuits.  But might set up about an 1 1/2 hour regional flight for fun.  I fly a BAe 146-200 regional jet.  Maybe out on the West coast.....since I have FlyTampa airports with AES installed for a lot of places out there.

I'll try to put a notice on here.... but just keep your eyes on the SimV server info page.

But in the pit,....... for me typing is difficult.  can be done....but difficult.  And the text shows up "floating "out the windscreen in front of the plane on the projected view....which is doubly weird.  Wink

Unless you stay up late I doubt I would catch you since I am 5 or 6 hours behind you haha.  It's 630pm here now,  just checked the server and as usual it's empty LOL I'll keep my eyes open!

I literally just got off the server for a break a few minutes ago.  Been flying for about 2 hours straight....... doing manual TOs and landings at KBOS in real world weather via ActiveSky 6.5.

Likely will be back on in a while.

If you don't have the aircraft I am flying in your "hanger", then you will not see me displayed correctly.  SOmetimes a big jet will get displayed as a C172 .   Grin  So don't be surprised if my plane looks bogus.  I am flying the Jon Murchison BAe 146-200 in the United repaint.  Online call is United 6565.

best,

....................john

PS: California is only 3 hours behind us here.

Ahh that's right, I'm used to Hawaii time, I'm in California but my brain is still in Hawaii  Wink  Just DL'd the BAe 146 and installed it so I won't see a Cessna going 245 KIAS  Tongue

Big Truck,

That was a GREAT flight tonight from KLAX to KSFO.  The simultaneous landings on runway 28 left and 28 right with the touchdowns no more than a couple of seconds apart was a LOT of fun.  And flying over your office was a nice touch.....particularly since I had NO idea where you lived in Californis; pure chance that I chose KSFO for the destination.

Congratulations on your first multiplayer flight that actually WAS multiplayer.  Nice job navigating off of my typed course headings and VOR mentions.   That we arrived within seconds of each other says a lot for your piloting skills.....since we really did not plan that much at the outset.  Good hand flown landing too.

And thanks for making the effort to join me.  It makes a world of difference when there are multiple people flying.  I saw some others on there.... but they were somewhere else,......and not on either teamspeak nor typing.

Hopefully next time your Teamspeak setup will work.  Keep the dpg away from the headset.  Typing like that was killing me  Wink.  The keyboard is NOT in a good locvation for typing more than setup commands in ths simpit.

best,

......................john

PS:  Be glad to send you the specific aircraft I am flying and the paint so you can see me correctly.  I'll have to strip the complex panel system out of it and install the really basic one to improve framerates for AI use though.  And strip out the payware BAe 146-200 sound set.  Send me a PM with your email if you'd like it.  Easier than finding it on the web and making sure that all the mods I did to it and name changes match up in multiplayer so that it actually shows up.
