I've installed WoAI airlines & I have all I hoped for but some airports are peculiar, ie: Heathrow has aircraft with noses poked into buildings, & runway markers scattered all over the place, as do others, & Gatwick has r/w markers scattered about & 1 aircraft on grass while a Virgin 747 turned through a building.

I guess I need better airport Afcads.  My question is What's the best ones & from where?
Thanks.

Sounds like you have afcads that don't match the airport scenery.

If you have add-on airport scenery installed make sure you have an afcad designed to work with that scenery.

If you have installed afcads, but no scenery, make sure they are designed to work with the default scenery.

Also, if you have afcads installed, make sure there is only 1 for each airport.

Good morning Dave.   I have default scenery.  I've not added any airport afcads except for Heathrow, Gatwick, Sea-Tac, & Bournemouth  having added WoAI airlines I thought non-default ones were needed to get my traffic to show up?    Is this not right?
Cheers,
Terry.

Default will work but with 2 gottcha's.

They may not have enough parking/parking size available for all of your add-on ai.

They do not have assigned gates (parking codes) therefore the airlines will park randomly rather than at assigned terminal locations.

If you do install afcads just make sure they are designed for use with the default scenery, and only 1 afcad per airport.

Thanks Dave.  I don't mind where they park!!  How do I know that an afcad will work with default Heathrow, eg, or Sea-Tac?

I've removed all the afcads I could find for Gatwick but when I start the sim the taxiway markers are all over the place, so which airport file is it using?     I assume there are a bunch of default afcads/airport files somewhere but where?      If I get an 'improved' afcad for EGKK do I remove the default file as well?
Thanks,

Terry.

Terry,

Usually the download description or readme will state if the afcad is designed for the default scenery or a particular scenery add-on.

As for EGKK-Gatwick, the taxiway signs are are botched up in the FS9 default airport file(s), so I'm guessing this is what you're seeing. The remedy would be to download a Gatwick airport scenery. A simple afcad download will not fix the taxiway signs.

When installing an afcad  file it is not necessary to do anything with the default airport file.

Dave

UK2000 released a freeware Gatwick scenery package, easy to install (and remove). Improved scenery, proper taxiway signs, afcad has assigned airline gates. http://www.uk2000scenery.com/free/My_Homepage_Files/Page1.html.

Thanks Dave - I'll check it out.     If I'm seeing the default Gatwick I wasn't conscious of seeing those markers quite as bad before, as now!!

I added lots of WoAI to my Dell Dimension FS9 & that's working great guns at all major airport so I think I'll to try a gamble of copying it to an external drive then deleting it in the laptop & replacing it with the Dimension copy.

Thanks for your info - I'm slowly getting to understand how AI works!   Roll Eyes

Why not download and learn to use Lee Swordy's AFCAD?........it's great fun and quite easy to get the hang of..then you can tweak the afcads which are wrong, move the parking spots so that A/Cs are not poking through buildings and runway markings are not in the wrong place, add more parking spaces.........etc. etc. etc....have fun and learn.........commoner Wink

Who knows you could become the next SimV expert on the subject and help others...... Grin

Thanks commoner but I can never hope to replace you & your expertise  Cheesy   Actually I have just installed EGKK from UK2000 & apart from 3 vasi lights sticking up from RW 9R near the threshold I'm very impressed with it.  All my sliders are at Max. & the car parks & surrounds look a bit muddy otherwise - nice one!

I'll give the AFCAD thingy a whirl but is there a tutorial about afcads or does the thingy deal with this topic?

Terry,

I've also been checking out the UK2000 EGKK freeware. Quite nice.

I don't see anything of the 3 vasi's on rw 08, only the proper vasi to the right of the runway and precision approach lights.
...
If you're seeing other vasi, maybe there is still a chance you have another Afcad.

If you're going to take Commoner's suggestion and try out AFCAD, it can help by listing all of the airport files for a given airport.

AFCAD is quite simple to use, has an excellent help file, and a fun way to enter the FS design world.  Smiley

You can't really botch anything up as it doesn't mess with default files. You can always revert to the default by removing your Afcad file.

I boobed Dave.   I wasn't expecting lights on the right & they're part-way on the apron as in real life I've been told since I swept past them at 160 & I should have checked them before making my comment.
Actually I get 24 fps so might get others.  I'm grateful for your link to UK2000  Wink
