I read about doing this in another post here recently & Chester's pack was mentioned.  It sounded to be a Good Idea so I tried it.
INSTALLATION:
1. Unpack AIS_intpackv10.zip to temporary folder.
2. Unpack !Texture.zip to FS9\Texture\ folder
3. Unpack AI Planes to FS9\Aircraft\ folder.
4. Unpack to any folder program Traffic Tools 2.02 (TTools.exe) and run it. Set path for FS 2004 (if it's installed not in the standard folder), highlight in the right window file traffic030528.bgl and push DECOMPILE.
5. Unpack !Traffic Flight Plans - Int.zip to the same folder where Traffic Tools 2.02 is and replace existing file (Aircraft030528.txt).
6. Go back to Traffic Tools 2.02, highlight 3 files in the left window with the same extension as ...030528.txt (Aircraft030528.txt, Airports030528.txt, FlightPlans030528.txt) and hit COMPILE.
7. That's it. Now run FS 2004, go to any (a one big will be the best) airport. Insted of standard airlines as Soar, Landmark, Pacifica, etc. U should have real airliners.

TTools said it had decompiled traffic030528.bgl but when I fire up fs9 all the default is there!     I followed the install instructions to the T & I'm not quite sure now why I don't see new airlines?
Any suggestions or help will be gratefully appreciated.

You say you (TTools) decompiled 'traffic030528.bgl'. You don't mention if you compiled after replacing the 'aircraft030528.txt' file with the one from Chester's pack (steps 5 and 6).

Run TTools and decompile 'traffic030528.bgl' again. Look in the resulting 'aircraft030528.txt' file and see if the commercial airliners listed are the default or Chester's.

If they're still the default Boeings (paint1, paint2, etc.) then go thru steps 5 and  6 again.

Thanks.  I've repeated the whole process 3 times but still no joy!!  I did compile after decompiling by the way.

Are you sure the AI aircraft are installed correctly?

If you tell me exactly where you got this file I'll check it out for you.

Hager, it's Chester's International AI package on p43, FS2004 Civil Jets. I've installed it many times over the years.

Terry,

What ai are you seeing?, ga ai?, default Boeings?

Like Hager says, check that Chester's aircraft are installed properly.

When you decompile again, what commercial ac are listed in the 'aircraft030528.txt' file, the default Boeings or Chester's? The default Boeing's are paint1, paint2, etc. Chester's will have airline names.

Check the \Scenery\World\scenery\ folder for 'traffic030528.bgl'. If TTools has compiled the new file to this location there should also be a file, 'traffic_ORIGINAL.bbb', a backup created by TTools the first time you modify the default traffic file.

Thank you both.  I repeated the whole exercise last thing last night & with your hints in mind I checked it all through & just now fired FS up.  BINGO - it's working!   I've just watched 10 passenger jets queue to take off at Gatwick while 4 landed, Continental, easyjet, Thompson, & Delta.  Then 2 default Dash 8 took off.    I know it's a Flight Sim but this was fun to watch!      I've seen a post in which someone (JBaymore?) has replaced all the defaults with WofAI so I'm thinking about that as a winter evening job.  Gatwick had some Monarch traffic I installed recently & it was great to see them.
That's Gatwick - now Bournemouth.  Roll Eyes
Thanks,
TeryW

Glad to hear you got it going Terry,

As I recall there is one glitch in the aircraft.cfg files causing ATC to not use  British Airways callsign (which is Speed Bird).

Open the aircraft.cfg files for each of the ai models and look for the [fltsim.x] section for the British Airways liveries (B737, 747 and A320).

Find the line atc_airline=British and change it to

atc_airline=speed bird

Thanks Dave.  I will.

I've just checked Edinburgh, Manchester, Heathrow (2 BA with their heads in a building!!) Exeter, Easy Midlands, etc  & most of my addons are showing but Bournemouth has 1 ea. Continental, BA, & Lufthansa showing but on the wrong side of the airfied, & they don't usually use the place.
I must trawl for airlines that do.  Oddly, my Ryanair haven't shown there yet!!    Thanks for your tips.
Terry.
