I have noticed now on two occasions (at two airports) that my AI aircraft are getting stuck when trying to vacate the runway, and end up just sitting on the tarmac (KDEN by ImagineSim) or the runway itself (LIMC by ISD), just twiddling their thumbs for 10 minutes before MSFS deletes their flightplan for inactivity.

What is the problem that causes this and how do I fix it?

I have also noticed parking overlapping at KDEN, sounds like a bad AFCAD if you ask me. Grin

My guess is, your guess is correct.
Try a different AFCAD and watch what happens.
The only reason for an AI not to park is lack of spots of the correct size.
