Ever have one of those days where everything goes right and wrong all at once Undecided

Finally getting a different truck after many months of searching and being stuck with my old 89 Ford Bronco II.  I have a 92 Silverado but its destined for the scrappers, finally died a couple days ago which I was surprised it even lasted that long.

As of tomorrow morning I will be the owner of an 89 F-150 that's the same colors as the Bronco and even has the same fake wood grain trim around the dash.  In excellent condition, only has 72,000 miles on it Shocked  The people that currently own it bought it off an older man who had bought it brand new and barely drove it.  $1450.  Only downside is its not a 4x4, which winters here can be really fun without it Embarrassed  But it drives nice and is a very strong truck for the age, fell in love with it as soon as I took off down the road on a test drive.  So very happy to be getting it.

Now for the pissy mood.  Earlier today on my way home from work I kept hearing a metallic ratting noise coming from the rear end of the Bronco, didn't think much of it, figured it was just something loose in the drum brakes since I had just worked on them a couple days ago...would take a look this evening.  A friend rode with me to take a look at this F-150 and on the way home he was getting annoyed with that sound and stuck his head out the window, looked back and the rear passengers tire was wobbling quite a bit.  Pulled off and let him drive a couple miles so I could see.  Sure enough, damn bearings are out and its now a bad accident waiting to happen and no longer road worthy without being fixed.  We made it back to his place I got kicked in the arse again, looked down to see a thin line of transmission fluid on the ground leading up to the Bronco.  Transmission is fine, but a seal is broken and now that I've made it home and parked it there's about 2 quarts of fluid if not more on the street...

Now I'm stuck with a small loan for the F-150 and a Bronco that I can't sell till its fixed, tire falling off with a new owner is just a lawsuit waiting to happen even if I warn them about it. Undecided

Arggg....such a strange mood I'm not even sure what you would call it.  Happy because I'm finally getting a truck again...but pissed off to no end that I now have to fix the Bronco yet again before I can sell it off Embarrassed

At least I don't have to take off much work while searching for another vehicle...took tomorrow morning off till I can get this F-150 home, insured, and plates transferred.  Only loosing about 1/2 a day of work.

Just a quick pic of the new one...well...same year I guess its really not new...but still Roll Eyes Tongue

Sweet ride man!  They dont make them like that anymore, solid and heavy, man I love older trucks.

I think I would lean more towards the happy side of your mood after a good purchase like that.  Can also look at it as a good thing you got it before the Bronco crapped the bed on you, now you still have transportation.

Look at it this way, maybe the Bronco actually did you a huge favour - it held out for you, only allowing itself to break after you weren't gonna be stuck without transport.

I think you should go back & give it a pat on the hood - 'Good Bronco.....'  Smiley

Love the new F150 BTW, I know you say it's old, but I love older motors, they've got so much more character, take Jared's project for example, I love that car.

Have it home after being on the road just about all day.  Racked up nearly 200 miles on it already just from picking it up, running down to the BMV, back home, then too and from work.  Drives nice and smooth, didn't really take it that far on the test drive.  1st gear shifts a little hard but its nothing new to me.  At first I was thinking "oh great...what have I done..." because of how far the fuel gauge dropped just getting it home which was about 30 miles.  But after work I changed the oil which was defiantly needing done ASAP.  Then came the air filter, never seen one that dirty before, it was getting dark last night while looking at it and didn't have the tools to pop the case off.  New one installed and made the world of difference.  Runs better then ever and fuel gauge no longer rapidly drops over a short drive.  Topped off the front tank, fuel gauge doesn't work with the rear tank so not going to use it very often...not too bad really.  Tank is a bit smaller then the Bronco because of having the 2nd one.  Between the 2 I can fit around 50 gallons in.  Not really a bad deal for $1400 Cool

Now I have a $2000 personal loan I didn't really need but got my truck and able to pay off a couple other bills with it.  Auto loan wouldn't have covered everything and the payments would have been way to much, personal loan I could get more money and lower payments due to stretching them out.  Probably just pay it off when the Bronco is fixed and sold.

So its been a good day, everything has went smoothly and supposed to have a quote tomorrow on how much it will cost to fix the Bronco's problems and get it back to the road.

If all goes well then I'm going to be happy for awhile Smiley

Which engine is in that Ford?  Wouldn't happen to be the straight six?

For winter, just toss a couple of sandbags or heavy friends in the back and go easy on the gas.  I work with an old timer who has never had a 4wd in his 60+ years living here, and always makes it to work to plow snow.  I on the other hand do good to make it in with my 4x4, but I'm a transplanted southern boy. Shouldn't that be 351 C.I.? To bad it isn't the old Cleveland. The 302 was listed as 5.0L and Chevy's 350 at 5.7L.

As for driving in the snow: Heck man, I drove my Mustang year-round, and it had a limited slip differential. Talk about fun...you never knew which direction you may be heading from one second to the next. The trick about snow is always have a passenger that's willing to push.  Wink  Grin

Cant you go to a scrapyard and find the parts you need (whole rear suspension of the side you need) and put them on?

Where i live you can use a DIY garage with all the tools you might need to fix your car, including the special kit.

Its only a wheel bearing, the front ones were changed out a couple years ago by myself and a friend.  But the rear bearings are pressed in...we don't have the tools and or the time to replace them.  A shop here in town can do it for $150.  Transmission leak is yet to be determined.  Probably have it fixed in a couple weeks and get it sold ASAP. Lips Sealed

The F-150 finally got a bath yesterday, shined right up. Cool  But then last night was my friends Bachelor party and I crashed out over there with a few others as we were all a little incapable of driving. Smiley  Wasn't supposed to rain according to the weather man at like 8PM.  3 or 4 of us had forgot about putting windows up, but it wasn't supposed to rain Angry  Woke up to a loud crack of thunder at like 5:30AM, ran outside and it was just pouring, apparently started off light about 15 minutes before then the main storm hit, jumped inside to put the windows up and quickly found a cold soaking wet seat Embarrassed  Everyone else came running to find themselves with the same situation.

So now windows are down and trying to dry things out a little...its like someone took a 5 gallon bucket and just dumped one on both sides Smiley
