Judge's Choice Harold winners: A storm is approaching so I'm just giving the field totally to Harold to announce the winners in this tribute comp. He doesn't need my help anyway.  Smiley

Here's a little reminder, as it's a tribute, results follow:

“ Remembering Shaun”

...

Judge Harold says:

[size=24] "As you may or may not be aware, Shaun Lunt - one of the most imaginative bush pilots and a great inspiration to me - was killed two weeks ago, when his Super Cub stalled and crashed while he was looking at a whale skeleton near Jacksmith Bay, about 425 miles west of Anchorage. You can find more information here.

Shaun was only 33 years old ... we'll miss him."
I don't want this to be just a 'competition'. I'd like you to pay a tribute to Shaun, by entering the prettiest Piper Cub shot you can create. It should of course be set in Alaska or British Columbia. Anything goes as long as it is not a composite.

For inspiration I suggest that you check Shaun's weblog - it is amazing!

Thank you all for so many great entries! I really had a hard time deciding which one captured the feeling best: low and slow, between the trees, skimming the water and smelling a mix of kerosine, salmon and bear poo. I kept looking back at all the great shots that Shaun shared with us and finally made my choice.

Hopefully Shaun is enjoying them too from up there ...

1. Martijn (Souichiro): Most excellent composition and great coloring! I love the way the colors of the Cub go very well with that baby blue sky, those semi transparent clouds, those snow covered ranges and that typical bright, early spring like green valleys. Not to mention that great Cub model!

...

2. Simon (Todayshorse): A very sweet edit which has that typical 60's/70's era, over-saturated and over-exposed photograph feel to it that has become signature to Simon. Besides his repaints I really like his editing style a lot. Though a Cub is really slow, the slightly blurred image gives it a bit of a sense of speed.

...

3. Nick (ndude737): It hasn't even been a year since Nick joined us and he already showed us some awesome screenart! This one is no exception and I - for one - really like those trees in the foreground! It's like I'm standing between the trees and seeing him fly right by me. Those clouds look very Alaska en those snow covered mountain ranges in the background are a very nice contrast with the yellow Cub.

...

Thanks for all the entries guys, hopefully JC Soui will be up either tomorrow or Sat.

Cheers

Although I'd not like to think of this one as a competition, I still wish you all good luck! Let's see some great Piper Cub shots!

Hey Tom

This shot http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/Tompaymonthwinjan08.jpg

has already been posted and won the Jan. 2008 screen-shot contest. It's in the Studio V Gallery. Doesn't it have to be a new shot? Just asking.

No, it can't be an old shot!
The purpose for the contest is to create a theme that the judge elects then the people create the shot!

What would be the fun of going through old folders and posting a shot that was already taken..
Hell if I did that, why even enter?

IT CAN BE AN OLD SHOT if you don’t have time to create something especially for the comp, though original entries are encouraged….

Old shots are allowed, but originality is encouraged. Wink

Excellent theme and from what I've seen so far a superb tribute to a fantastic aviator......Smiley

Indeed, I've read Shaun's blog before, what a life he must have lead. A very sad loss Cry

Well, here's my entry to your competition Harold:

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/cjch.jpg

EDIT - Ah, seems I too overstepped the "it must be set in Alaska or BC" rule, if you don't mind Harold could I put another shot together and enter it?
