a few months ago i installed ubuntu linux to have  a play round and see what it was like, i really like it, i just don't use it anymore as i only used it to work on, and now i have finished college i have no need and want to use the hard drive for storage.

im browsing the net looking for a way to uninstall the GRUB loader and ive found this method used in the repair function of windows

C:\WINDOWS
CD .. << this line im not sure off
FIXBOOT C:
FIXMBR
BOOTCFG /rebuild

does anyone know what i would need to type here, just

CD .. (including the dots)

or should something be in the place of the dots? im not sure

any help is appreciated

thanks alot

Well since I still use MS-DOS, CD.. is simply a shortcut to the previous directory and CD\ is a shortcut to the root directory. (I just threw that last command in for giggles)

For example, if I am in C:\Sierra\LSL and type C.. I will then be in C:\Sierra. If I am in C:\Sierra\LSL and type CD\ I will be in C:\ which is the root directory. Notice Typing CD\ moved back two directories to the root.

Coincidentally, from C:\Windows, typing C.. will probably take you to C:\ because it is only moving back one directory. Or you could type CD\, it doesn't really matter.

thanks for the help mushroom farmer Smiley and for the short lesson on the use of CD\ in command line Smiley

uninstalled, re built my MBR and it did something weird  to windows so windows was reinstalled no biggy.

because i had a 500gb which was running windows and a 250gb running linux, i use windows more than linux and ive filled the 500gb HDD so i need more storage space!

over the summer i will grab another 500gb and wack linux on that ready for uni in september Smiley
