I have over 1300 aircraft and the only really good B-17 that I have found is the Payware Wings of Power B-17.
Sorry Roll Eyes it's Payware but it's great Grin and well worth the money.

I recall 2 B17s....

1 is a Fuddy Duddy for FSX, probably the one you were thinking of.

There is a second Fuddy Duddy for FS2004 on SimV with a nice virtual cockpit. No idea if it works in FSX, but you can look around...

Other than that, I'm not aware of any decent freeware B17s. If you are really wanting to fly it, go payware. But if it's just for a screenshot or something, than obviously not.

It is for a shot. I need FS Recorder, which works fine, except with the Fuddy Duddy. Angry Really pisses me off. The whole reason I got the recorder was for the shot. Angry

What is it doing with fuddy duddy? I know mine doesnt like a certain DC-10 repaint (as it likes all the others!) and  fs recorder will crash fs9 at the most convenient moments whilst trying to get a shot.....

Don't worry about it. I don't think it would have made it, even with help. I just didn't have a good idea for a shot this month.

That Wings of Power B-17 is quite nice. Lots of detail; round surfaces are very close to actually being round. Has a very nicely done VC. Great sounds. Free! Did I mention it's a free download? It shows up in your selectable aircraft as Wings of Power-- not Boeing.

How do I get the gauges into the panel? I always hesitate when it tells me there is already a folder named Gauges and do I want to overwrite it. I never know what to click...

Thanks!

My system: AMD Phenom 9500 cpu, 2 x eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked vidcards (640Mb DDR3 each), Zalman "sunflower" 9700 fan, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 2 x Sony 20X DVD writers, Thermaltake Toughpower 850W modular p/s, 7 x 120mm fans, Windows XP Home and SP3, 2 x 250Gb Western Digital SATA-300 HDs (1 for apps, 1 for storage and precious files backup), CoolerMaster CM 690 case, NOD-32. Won't run FSX. Locks up a lot with FS9, too.

You just transfer the *contents* of the Gauge folder of the download "gauge" folder into the FSX Gauge folder.
