AngryInstalled my new(ish) video card the other day, cleaned out the old drivers (the right way I think) and installed Catalyst version 7.12. (seem to be the best for my system). I have the "use visual styles on windows and buttons" UN-checked on the visual effects tab of the performance options because I prefer to use a modified Windows "classic" theme, so I don't need it.

EVERY TIME I restart this thing, it boots into the newer XP theme with the crappy blue task bar and what not, and it's ticking me right the heck off! Angry

Anyone know how to fix this?!?  Angry

PLEEEEEAASE?

**update** does the same thing with a completely fresh install of everything. PLEASE HELP!

Specs: Asus Crosshair nForce 590 SLI,
AMD Athlon X2 6400+ w/ZeroTherm BTF90,
4GB G.Skill PI Series DDR2-800,
Sapphire HD4870 512MB,
PC P&C 750 Quad, in a CoolerMaster HAF932

Just to be sure but when you switch to Classic do you click OK or do you click APPLY?

Always apply first. This is making me nuts!  I'm starting to wonder if SP3 isn't to blame. That's the only thing that I'm doing different now that I didn't before. ( This next install, I'm gonna leave that one out) The only reference I can find on the web about this, is in some two-bit forum, that the person posted a similar problem,  no one answered, then he posted again that he figured it out...without really explaining how he fixed it.  Shocked

I think someone's trying to tell me something!

**Nope, wasn't SP3.

** Ah-HAAA.... might have it licked now. While running thriugh services shut down portion of Nick's tweaks, I saw an entry for Themes. I changed it from automatic to manual, and it's seems to have corrected the issue.( may be too soon to tell though.)
