Keepin' the peace over San Francisco International. (DESTROYED by compression! It was a pretty shot!) You know what, not even destroyed. It is down the tubes, out the sewers, into the ocean where lobsters are feeding on its remains.
Fun with a UH-1:

One thing that helps me with my SS's (now at least), is setting the Width to 900.
It keeps the size down a lot, even with no compression.
The higher sized screen, the more four letter words describe them xD.

Could part of my compression problem be that I keep my Sim at 1920X1200X32?

I use mine at whateverx1024, then I scale down to 900xwhatever xD.
But that may be so, if you're posting them without resizing.
You really should resize to 900xwhateveritcomesouttobe, as I didn't lose much (if any) quality to my shots due to compression afterwards.

Indeed, i always resize mine down to 800x, no problems with loss of quality (i dont think anyway) and they are easy to get just under 150kb. But i always do everything to them whilst they are .bmps, one sorted size wise and so on, then i change to 'pegs. Unsure if it makes any difference, but works for me!
Last shot seems ok however - but whats the black circle in the sea in the third? Are they helicopter landing spot things? Dont really fly 'copters so ive never come across them!!!

That's supposed to be the shadow. The sim can't render faded shadows for anything translucent. So the entire chopper, including its rotors, are given a rather circular shadow.
Check out my PAYWARE quality, FREEWARE release of DominicaX.
