The JUNE
...
SCREENSHOT CONTEST!

This month's theme is centered around a classic Warbird...

... ... ... ...
THE SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE!

... ... ... ...

FOR THIS CONTEST YOU WILL NEED TO POST A SHOT
THAT INCLUDES A
SPITFIRE!

The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter, used by the Royal Air Force and many other
Allied countries during the Second World War, and into the 1950s. It was produced in greater numbers than any other Allied design. The Spitfire was the only Allied fighter in production at the outbreak of the Second World War that was still in production at the end of the war.

Produced by the Supermarine subsidiary of Vickers-Armstrongs, the Spitfire was designed by the company's Chief Designer R. J. Mitchell, who continued to refine the design until his death from cancer in 1937; the position of chief designer was then filled by his colleague, Joseph Smith. Its elliptical wing had a thin cross-section, allowing a higher top speed than the Hawker Hurricane and many other contemporary designs.

The distinctive silhouette imparted by the wing platform helped the Spitfire to achieve legendary status during the Battle of Britain. There was, and still is, a public perception that it was the RAF fighter of the Battle, in spite of the fact that the more numerous Hurricane shouldered a great deal of the burden against the potent Messerschmidt Bf 109. Much loved by its pilots, the Spitfire saw service throughout the whole of the Second World War, in most theatres of war, in several roles and in many different variants. The Spitfire was to continue to serve as a front-line fighter and in secondary roles for several airforces well into the 1950s.

The Spitfire will always be compared to its main adversary, the Bf 109: both were among the finest fighters of their day,
although the Spitfire ultimately proved to be a more flexible and tractable design, and kept its superb handling qualities through every permutation, increased torque reaction from higher powered engines could cause 'swing' on take-off.

Ok, so you have your subject... Ozzy's most favorite aircraft of all time!
What are you going to do to make Ozzy Proud?

...

Below are the rules...  Any questions or comments should be directed to a judge and will be answered at the earliest available opportunity. Any contestant judged to have violated these rules will have his entry removed and be disqualified.  Please start a thread for your entries for each member...
Most of all, HAVE FUN!

Contest Starts June 9, 2008
and Ends June 30, 2008.

Active Camera, Walk & Follow are NOT allowed!!

1. This contest will run from June 9, 2008 until June 30, 2008. Entries submitted after Midnight on June 30, 2008 EST will not be accepted.  Judging will occur after June 30, 2008 EST and the 10 Finalists will be entered into the POLL that will be posted soon after! Now the Members will cast their vote in the Poll to determine this month's winner!

2. Open only to SimV forum members registered before
May 9, 2008.
This is to prohibit registering multiple user names to allow more entries. It is also enforced to discourage people  from joining just to try to win the monthly prize!  Sorry and better luck next time!

3. All images Must BE NO WIDER THAN 1024 AND NOT MORE THAN 150KB IN WIEGHT! No cropping, editing or adjusting your shot!! Any images over 150 kb in weight, and wider than 1024 will not be VALID!  This rule is now being enforced since This is a Screenshot Contest and we "want to see the RAW shot!" 6. Once an entry is submitted, it may not be withdrawn.  This is to keep the confusion to a minimum, and to maintain forum integrity.  Entries may be withdrawn from the contest, but no additional entries from that member will be accepted.

7. Entries may be of freeware aircraft and scenery only! This keeps the playing field even!  Wink

8. Entries may not be edited in any way.  Any entry discovered to have been edited will be disqualified and the image removed from the contest.

9. All images must be produced specifically with the intent of entering them in this contest.  No screenshots previously posted images or pre-contest images will be accepted.

10. After the contest has ended and the judges have decided on the "Finalists", a "POLL" type thread will be started entitled, "Screenshot Finalists, Vote Now!" It will explain that the Poll will be closed within 48 hours. You must note the Post Time of this thread to know when it will close! This will allow the members to now vote for their favorite shot from the ones the judges have picked!

11. After 48 hours from the time the Finalist Announcement is made, the POLL will be closed and the Winner announced!

A REQUEST
We would like to ask the Author of each screenshot, to please supply us with the name & designer of the Aircraft in your post. So many people always ask "what aircraft is that", and We think it would be very informative for many of us if it were right there under the shot!
Thanks...

They are in there under the vintage section. Ive found quite a few actual Spitfires, and several variants. Now... to decide what I wanna use... Undecided

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.
