To help kick off our new server and tide us over until the real virtual airshows start in the fall, I am organizing a fly-in and virtual airshow to take place on July 12 or 13.

Server - FlyFS.hopto.org

Airport - KPWM (Portland Int'l, Maine)

This event is open to all who would like to participate.  We will be limiting each person to one performance plus a mass formation at the end.  Of course, you are welcome to come and watch if you don't want to fly.  Music and narration will be on Teamspeak at the same IP.  Post here with what you want to fly.  I will collect the aircraft files a couple weeks before the show and put the aircraft pack together.

Here is a map of the show layout:

For more information check out our thread on AirshowBuzz.

Hope to see you there!

(only posting this here because my ASB account got nixed)

Sounds good. I'm working on a SimV F-16 paint that I might try to bring along.

A quick update for everyone. Slots are still open for the show so just post here if you want in. Here is the current list of acts:

Buckeye - Fat Albert
MOD - Extra 300
Andy - MX-2
Brett - RV-2 (tentative for Gary airshow)
Bear - Yak-23
WVI - HH-65
Frost - Bell 412
Canuck - Harvard
Zapper - RF-4
The Flying Jesters - Christen Eagle IIs
Slick - L-159
Fly Boy - Me262
Tomcat - BAE Hawk
Rhino - Stearman
BigJ - Christen Eagle IIs and C-130
Gunit - SU-25
Raven - P-51

You can sign up and change your act until one week before the show when I will get the aircraft pack together. I'll post the link here to download it when it's done.

The show will be on Sunday, June 13th around noon eastern time. We'll keep flying until everyone has had a chance so if you can't make it right away, show up when you can! The server will be locked down during formation performances to prevent lag so if you can't connect keep trying.

The schedule is now locked and no one can change or add acts.  As expected, a number of people bailed on the show so some of us who have been at other shows have picked up a few acts to fill in the gaps.  The schedule now looks like this:

Buckeye - Fat Albert
MOD - Extra 300
Andy - MX-2
WVI - HH-65
Frost - Bell 412
Canuck - Hawk
Fly Boy - F-14B
Tomcat - P-38
Rhino - Stearman
Raven - P-51
Tomcat - AV-8B Harrier
Frost - A-1H Skyraider
Rhino - F-22 Raptor and USAF Heritage Flight
Andy - BN-2 Islander
MOD - Beech Baron
Buckeye - F/A-18C Hornet

The aircraft pack is fully put together and available for download at http://www.airshowstuff.com/midsummerack.zip ; All of the aircraft are freeware.  The pack is about 200MB zipped and includes everything you will need to watch the show.  I have renamed the folders so you can just copy them into your FS9/Aircraft folder to install them.

Those of you not performing are more than welcome to watch, after all there is no better way to get a feel for our shows than actually being at one.  If you want to watch, just sit in the PA dude (included in the pack) in the crowd area.  Be sure to shut your engine off.  Music and narration will be on the TeamSpeak server.

Hope to see you all there!

Well it wasn't as smooth as some other shows but I still had a lot of fun.  We had some new people on to watch and they seemed to enjoy it.  I want to thank everyone who showed up and flew.  I hope everyone will join us for our airshows this fall!  I will try to post some screenshots from the show soon.
