Fr Bill, I see you have the banner so I assume you are associated with them.

I bought the Columbia 400, all set up for Vista, but I get nothing but crashes to the desktop.

I am registered for the forum, but it won't let me in, even with a brand new emailed password.

Is being from the southern hemisphere a no-no.  It is a beautiful plane but it is unusable and I can't get into the forum to start a useful conversation.

Have you tried modifying the Properties of the Desktop Icon you use to launch FSX?  Our gauge system needs to access certain file areas of which Vista seems to be overly "protective..."  Roll Eyes

Try the settings shown in the image below:

Hi Bill, I did get into the Eaglesoft forum and read your reply there.  I have done exactly as you said, but it made no difference.  What happens is that all is ok until the glass cockpits go live after the avidyne warmup.  Then it begins the slow stutter reminiscent of our early attempts with underpowered hardware on FSX, followed by the dreaded circling windows wheel telling me something is brewing and then it crashes.  I can fly it from the outside like a model aeroplane, which is what makes me think it is gauge related.

However I am doing a full complete/name defrag to see if something had been misplaced.  If that doesn't work I shall uninstall, re-download and install the new version.

If that fails .... pray for me, because I will sin (at least in speech)

Bill:  I have done everything that has been suggested.  I have deleted and reinstalled.  Exactly the same result.  Technically it never crashes to desktop, it actually stops, gives me the MS is searching for the problem, and then restarts FSX.

I am only ordinarily competent with computers, what I call second level, where I can understand some simple and common problems, after which I am stumped.

Seeing you say this is uncommon I assume I have a setting wrong, but I can't figure it out.  For instance could it be I have comapatibilities set wrongly?

I am sorry to hear of your problems with the aircraft system. I honestly don't have much more to offer in the way of suggestions myself.

It is very possible that someone else in our support forum could have some suggestions of things to try.

If you are still having problems logging into the forum, contact Ron at support@eaglesoftdg.com for assistance.

Thanks Bill, I will do as you suggest.  I notice that Ron takes an active part in the forum, which is a good indication of his enthusiasm.

Ron has pointed out a problem between the Flight1 wrapper and NOD 32, but I have re-downloaded after so disabling NOD so that the only remaining action would be uninstalling the AV ware.

The problem I am convinced is in the gauge, it occurs when the left hand glass Entegra setup, FD etc, initialise after the warm up period.  It is only when it is all alive that the shutdown occurs.

I would be quite happy to scan the gauge files if you could tell me what to look for.  Is there some critical action the program takes after the AHRS goes active?

However as it only appears to be me, and I think unlikely that it is actually the wrapper conflict, then I guess I must wait until I do my next reinstall.  I won't seek a refund as I think they look to be splendid models if I can only get them to stay active.
