I'm new to this scenery design, and really just want to edit my home airport to make it a little more realistic.  Maybe add some AI traffic to.  I have FSX with the Acceleration pack.  I installed the Acceleration SDK and I have ADE v 1.26 to.  Can't get that to do much either.  I think the reason the SDK isn't working is because I haven't edited the dll.xml file, simply because I can't find it.  Any help would be appreciated.

WHen you say you can't get the SDK to work, it's a pretty broad statement.

What are you trying to do, simply add an object or two from the established FS=X libraries, or are you trying to create your own objects from scratch?

I agree - we could use a bit more information to be able to help. Are you trying to use ADE 1.26 to modify your airport?  If so is that generating some errors or are you trying to work with the SDK directly?   Some information about what process you have bee going through and what error messages are being generated (if any) would be a great help.  Also if you are using ADE 1.26 and it is generating errors there is a log file that stores this information and can help us find out what is wrong

This wiki from FSDeveloper should help with your SDK installation issues. Installing FSX SDK

For ai traffic I sugggest using AIFPC by Peter van der Veen (d/l link in msg #57).

If you're  experienced with using TrafficTools for FS2004 there will be no learning curve.  If not, download Traffic Tools v2.02. The excellent help file will guide you in creating/editing ai traffic files.

The SDK is supposed to put a "Tools" menu in your FSX menu at the top, right?  As far as the SDK, I can't get it to do anything.  I was going to use ADE v.1.26 to add some static aircraft and change the parking at my home airport.  They have got the ramp as grass and and it should be asphalt and they only have about half the parking spots as what there is in the real world.  I guess my question is, after I edit the airport with ADE and get things like I want it, how do you change in the FSX so it shows up?  As far as the SDK goes, like I said, I can't get any part of it to do anything.  I notice it is all in a folder directly below my FSX main folder.  Also, I have tried using the "Config SDK" and it will do something, but nothing else seems to work.   I would also like to add some GA AI traffic there too, but I'll probably get into that after I get this other stuff going.  I guess the SDK traffic toolbox is what I was planning on using to do that.  Thanks, like I say, I'm a beginner here, but I don't think I'll have much problem once I can get the setup on these programs figured out.

Dave, I read through that SDK tutorial before a couple days ago.  It helped some, but I still can't find the dll.xml file anywhere on my computer.  Anyways, thanks for putting that up, I was looking for it again but couldn't remeber where I found it.

I can't say why the tools menu would not show up in FSX.

If you have ADE installed correctly then you will not need anything else.   There is a install checker with ADE 1.26 that will check if everything is OK - Did you run that?  If ADE has found BglComp and Shp2Vec from the SDK (and by the way you need at least SP1a of the SDK - the version that comes on the deluxe edition DVD does not handle boundary fences) then you can just go ahead and re-design your airport.  Compile it to a scenery folder in Addon Scenery (Addon Scenery\scenery is the simplest) and then run FSX - you should see the scenery database being updated and then your changes should be present in FSX.

If you haven't edited the dll.xml file then you are dead in the water...

dll.xml is at the same location as your fsx.cfg file.

*XP  C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\
*Vista  C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\

If you can't find the location or can't see the file:

In the Windows Explorer  menu bar click Tools>Folder Options>View tab..in the Advanced Settings list put a tick next to 'Show hidden files and folders' and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'.

If you use the Explorer-search function, in the search input window click on 'More Advanced Options' and put checks next to 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders' and 'Search subfolders'.

I think thats the reason the tools menu isn't showing up.

I think I'm getting somewhere.  I uninstalled ADE and SDK and reinstalled both of them.  ADE seems to be working good and it was able to locate the BGLComp folder this time.  I made some changes to the airport and compiled like your supposed to, moved it to addon scenery, but it is not showing up anywhere in FSX.  I'm reading all the tutorials and hopefully I can get all this sorted out.  Thanks for all of your help, still gotta try to find that dll.xml which I'm gonna do now.
