Well I am anticipating some negative comments to this post but hopefully they wont be too bad.

I have been here for a while and in real life flying I am hoping to make my way in the avaiation industry as a pilot. I completed my JAR- PPL this time last year and have been studying the ATPL manuals since. Some of the older, mature members will be familiar with Oxford Aviation Academy, as it is now known. I am hoping to get a place there for my flying training. I am in work at the moment and currently finishing academic studies in scotland for an HND in mechanical engineering.

The one snag though is the fact I have to piece together £70, 235. I can take a bank loan to cover £50,000 but I have a £20,000 defecit I need to make up. I will be working this summer to earn cash but I wont be able to earn that amount and my parents are not in a financial position to assist me.

www.donate2me.net

I was wondering if anyone was willing to donate anything, even 1p, via paypal as it all adds up. I realise many people may wish to reply to this post in a sinical manner but I hope mabye some good can come from this post. I have pieced together a website with links and more information if you are at all interested.

Thank you for reading this post even if you are not interested!  Smiley

Hi Scott,
While I would fully support air training and seeking sponsorship for that, it  would be a good idea to remember that online your best bet would be to seek such sponsorship where you may be known.

In the online world, which is full of scams, it is unlikely would will have much trust as a new member asking for donations.

I'm sure your cause is legit and I wish you the very best in seeking your sponsorship.

It would appear that in the UK there are many avenues to look at in commercial pilot sponsorship

Here's a starter

Think Global. It's the world we live in.

I'm with Pete on this - particularly if you are going through OATS/OAA anyway, as they operate several of the part sponsored schemes in the UK anyway. That includes the new NetJets cadet programme too, which like other sponsored schemes offers a job on completion and a guaranteed source of funds to repay the loan. Ok, it may be a little more complex to apply, as you'll have to be selected, but that security of knowing from day one that at the end of the course you've got a job lined up would be like gold dust.

I notice OAA currently run schemes with BA, NetJets, Flybe, Thomas Cook and XL. Of course as per the norm these days, in the end you'll pay for it, but not up front. Smiley

Of course there's always CTC Wings if you fancy a few months in NZ - again under broadly the same terms. I know a fair few who've been quite successful on the scheme.

I was accepted to progress to CTC wings phase 2 the other day after my initial application. I have an aptitude test and interview on the 24th of June. I am pending on the Netjet shortlist just now until the next batch gets examined. I had some positive feedback but they state that it will be a month or two before I hear from them again.

Fingers crossed.
